Further spending cuts will irrevocably harm the recovery
This should be the Dems talking point now. Link the budget cuts to job loss, and link government spending to continuing the recovery. And throw in a history lesson about 1938 for good measure. Time to push for this before the GOP once again totally controls the narrative and makes it all about the deficit. And for that matter, Dems should connect the dreaded deficit to the high unemployment: people who are out of work don't pay taxes; they get unemployment. A stronger economy and higher employment levels also helps to balance the budget. Why do we not hear this anymore? The biggest mistake the Dems make over and over is that they let the GOP control the narrative.

1. Even when they're still in the minority in the Senate, which could block anything they wanted.

4. the only way they will take this and run with it is if they PERSONALLY have something to lose
How about asking for a 25% across the board cut on all DC salaries -- including Congress and the Senate and the WH?

Now before anyone sucks their knickers into their anus's -- think about it. They will NOT -fight- until they have skin in the game. I'm being totally serious about this. Their actions have proved this out time and time again.

If the Dems don't want to do the needed framing and messaging, it's going to have to be up to the middle class to start sending out their messages.
