Cut the guy some FUCKING SLACK!
Now, do I know that the President will aggressively pursue what he outlined in his speech today? Uh-uh. But it seems to me, after all the goddam bitching I've seen on this and other sites about Obama's "failure" to even enunciate a response to the GOP, it is time for Dems to do something which does not come naturally to us: Wait and see what happens.

1. I applaud what he said today.........and...
I think instead of waiting to see what happens, we need to keep some pressure on him and on the Congress to produce the desired results.

2. Agreed. It is always a good idea to keep after Congress, even our Republican reps and Senators
They especially live in Teabagger Bubble.

But do call your Congress people.

4. I reject the idea of apathy and silence and instead say offer
active support, dissent, speak your mind and keep the conversation on the side of the people. Wait and see the other side exert tons of pressure while we sit and nod along? I think not.

What I'm saying is that we shouldn't descend like flies in the assumption that what Obama said is shit.

13. I was screaming for Obama to get involved in HCR
This is a different kettle of fish: The time to get angry is if and when the President's words turn out to be...just words. In the meantime, we should turn away the cannons.

11. I don't want to wait and see,
I want to help what he proposed along!

We've been sitting and waiting, and that wasn't even the original plan....
Originally it was "Yes, WE can"......we were going to organize and get her done....
and then Obama said his election was just the start. So when do we start?
I don't want anything close to the Ryan plan....so I won't be waiting.

16. You better pray that he means it......
or else your ass, like mine, will be grass.

Perhaps throwing rocks at the death panel would be a better purpose....
especially since you sound like you have passion about the issues.

So the Question is, do you have enough passion to stop the shit that will go down,
if enough of you keep acting like this is a fucking game. It ain't. Some serious shit that
will hurt us real bad will go down, if we busy ourselves with nothing more
than trying to defeat the only person standing in the way of us and the fucked up
Republican pieces of shit death Panel.

We don't wait for shit in this country! Now! NOW!!! That's why we have endless election campaigns and "reality" TV.

Edited on Thu Apr-14-11 01:58 PM by polichick
...the left will have to fight like hell - otherwise the negotiations will take us straight toward Ryan's whackadoodle plan.

"Wait and see what happens" my ass - I've been on the phone with progressive Congressional offices all day. They do seem to be gearing up for a fight.

34. The shame is that he will have no progressive opposition in the primaries.
No center or left of center candidate can make it through the primary process now that unlimited funds can be channelled into the elections by corporations. Funny they are persons when it comes to campaign contributions, but not when comes to paying taxes.

28. Maybe...
we should take a poll at DU to see who thinks the President will follow through on what he said in his speech or whether he will capitulate, as he always does. It would be quite interesting to view the poll and comments to it once the deal is done.
