A CARBON TAX should be on the table too.
"In his address, Obama said we have to “put everything on the table.” But when asked whether a carbon tax would be part of the mix in closing the deficit during the White House press call, the official said it was not."

It's great that the prez is talking about Democratic values, but he is also buying into the Republican narrative about the deficit, even promising $3 in spending cuts for every dollar raised in taxes. We have to offer Democratic solutions as well as values - beginning with a carbon tax.

2. It needs to be part of the budget debate...
Either everything is on the table, as the prez says, or it isn't. Time for Congressional progressives to play hardball.

3. Fuel taxes don't even pay for road construction and repair
Cities and property owners have to pay for city, township, and county roads.

...in more ways than one - and it's a Democratic solution, in contrast with all the cutting of social programs, which is a right-wing solution.
