Arizona's Senate passed a bill that would keep me from being president
Edited on Thu Apr-14-11 12:24 PM by CreekDog
I don't have the long form as it requires and I don't have any of the alternative documents --nor do I even know where to get them. And I was born here in California and I have an official copy of my birth certificate which was good enough to get me a passport.

1. Of course, that's assuming federal law cares what Arizona has to say about federal elections. (nt)

7. The federal election is 50 states doing their own elections.
Other than Constitutional requirements there is no federal election law telling the states how to run their elections.

11. The rules for who can be President are in the Constitution.
The states can't make up their own definitions.

15. They can probably have whatever rules for ballot access they like.
They could even cancel elections and choose for themselves who'll get their state's electoral votes.

3. How the hell is a baptismal or circumcision cert more credible than a certificate of live birth?

4. Absolutely.
It is not a document that requires an authorized signature that is recognized by the government.

I wonder if the BMV would accept such certificates to get a drivers license?

5. Baptism? What if you're Jewish or Muslim---or none of the above?
b) Hospital birth record? What if you were natural birth at home?

c) medical record letter? that's more viable than a birth certificate?

d) early census record? <--I was lost at this tone.

And no women either.

9. So, if.......
in the 2012 election, Arizona deems Obama not a viable candidate due to his "lack of proper birth documents" does that mean that Democrats, Independents or any Repubs who do not like the Repub candidates (or Independents) will be SOL and not get to vote? In essence, these voters are being denied their right to vote for their candidate because of Arizona's law. I think Federal law will trump Arizona's law at the end of the day. If I lived in AZ, I would be livid right about now. Where is the outrage from the voters?

(a) Early baptismal or circumcision certificate.
- religious test

(b) Hospital birth record.

The hospital I was born in was torn down in the 90's. I have no idea what they did with those records.

(c) Postpartum medical record for the mother or child signed by the doctor or midwife or the person who delivered or examined the child after birth.

That doctor died in the 90's. maybe his records are being kept with the old records from the hospital.

(d) Early census record.

Unless of course a republican president determines them to be classified. But even a census record does not determine where someone was born.

edited for spelling

13. And John McCain too.
Can someone explain to me how a baptismal or circumcision certificate ensures that you were born in a specific place? God the Arizona legislature is fucking stupid.

This ridiculous law is unconstitutional and oversteps state authority and will be shot down.
