Pleased With Speech...Holding My Breath

I am one of the more outspoken critics of the President.

You know, there was a time when I was just considered a Democrat. Now, it seems that I'm considered more on the fringe...a leftist. I suppose this just tells us how much this country has shifted.

While I am a vocal critic of the President here, I also believe that when he demonstrates a true commitment to "traditional" Dem principles, he is to be praised. I am here to praise what I believe was a principled speech that successfully tied our economy into the vision of what America is supposed to be. I hope that this is a trend that will reverse some of what has disappointed many of us here. I "hope" that he stays on message and gives many of us a reason to continue to support him as a true Democrat.

As a note of caution. And of course, this caution is borne of what some of us believe was a huge difference between his campaign for the presidency and his tenure in the Oval Office. Many have said that we are starting the campaign already for 2012. Remember that it was during a campaign that we heard so much of what we put our faith in. I hope...I truly hope that this is the first step in carrying the Democrat banner for the remainder of his presidency to include a second term. I simply hope that this is not just his first salvo to regain the base during a campaign season.

I cannot afford to let my faith in the President fade. His speech went a long way in helping me "keep the faith."
