Photo: Paul Ryan before and after the President's speech
Edited on Fri Apr-15-11 07:48 PM by ProSense
Before:

U.S. House Budget Committee Chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis), author of the Republican House budget
proposal, arrives to listen to a speech delivered by President Barack Obama on U.S. fiscal and budgetary
deficit policy at the George Washington University in Washington, April 13, 2011. Obama proposed cutting
ballooning U.S. budget deficits by $4 trillion over 12 years and called for talks with Democratic and Republican
lawmakers to address the worsening fiscal woes.

After:

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis. , declares that he was "disappointed" in President Obama's
speech on a federal spending plan, during a news conference at the Capitol in Washington, Wednesday, April 13, 2011.

12. This reminds me of Colbert's famous WH Press Corps Dinner speech.
It was the one where Stephen stood up in front of Dumbya, KKKarl, and the others, and tore them to bits right to their faces. As Jon Stewart remarked, it was "Balls-a-licious!" What the President did was nowhere near as ballsy as Colbert's performance, but I enjoyed it just as much. When I was listening to it, I had no idea Ryan was sitting in the front row. It sure twisted his panties into a huge. He's still whining about it 2 days later.

17. LOL!! I will never forget how
totally clueless Bush was at first, not knowing Colbert was using his intellectual wit/sarcasm to tell it like it is! And I've always wondered just what dummy thought Colbert was a conservative Republican and asked him to speak in the first place.!:dunce: I enjoyed watching that so very much!:fistbump:

23. who booked colbert to roast bush?
I have always felt Scott McClellan knowingly did it as pay back for the Bush-Cheney lie that they didn't out Wilson and Plume. Thank you Scott and Stephen for one of the funniest roasts EVER. It really was one of two times people had access to a dictator. The other was in Iraq when the guy tossed his shoes at Bush.

24. welcome to DU!
:hi:

Interesting theory! I had always just assumed that it was someone who thought that Colbert's show was for real--plenty of freepers did, at first--but I like your idea!

15. Repugs are way into the Central Casting meme...
I really think that is their first consideration when they 'suddenly' decide who is ready for prime time. Sarah, Michele, Scott Brown, Walker and Ryan. All of these are conventionally telegenic when they are posing and waltzing about in front of the camera. All fluffed, puffed and coifed. If Ryan was an older crock who didn't boast about his P90X he wouldn't have been so heavily boosted as the spear carrier for Death by DeFundary. I mean - we gotta make TeaLandia the place where the healthy hotties live.

At the Fox Teabagger level, the corporate wallets and the media pros know what they have to lead with. They want someone who can be on air, all the time imaging right appearance as a surrogate for right thinking. You won't see a prominent Repug Bag Lady in a pantsuit (that's Pelosi-style). Your won't find a up-and-coming Repug BagMan that looks like Limbaugh (who has a pass cuz he's not elected). The Ryans, the various flavors of 'Scott'.

Personally, to improve my activism I may actually have to USE my health club membership:)
