I used to like the RT Facebook page... |

You know, the Russian Today Facebook page because I thought it would give me some unfiltered, decent news of world events.
But I've found that page is nothing but a breeding ground for extremist assholes who believe HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) caused the Japan earthquake, Obama was born in Kenya and his open-mic incident recently proves he's a puppet (?)...

1. yeah. Much of what they publish is more akin to tabloid "journalism" |
|
than main stream news. :hi:

2. How can anyone respect a "news" organization that spends half its time |
|
posting videos on DU? Go check out the Video section here...it' s filled with RT videos. Don't these people have other things to do like research news?
When I first found RT I was really interested in it, but since then I think it is just a Russian outlet to hack all things US. Ironically, the have very little negative, if anything, to say about Russia. I guess their reporters would be killed like most journalists in Russia if they reported something negative about them.

3. It's a mix of great and schlock |

They are obe of the few pkaceson US television where you can actually hear intelligent analysis and information from progressives -- including many who are very credible and respectable.
But it is also mixed in with some old style Radio Moscow-like junk that is more along the lines of Soviet propaganda and overvthe top America bashing.
Which means one can find some valuable things on it --but it also requires a highly attuned BS detector.

I was in the same boat. Here I thought it was a news source that was very similar to Al Jazeera, but with a Western tilt.
Nope...
It's sensationalism at its best. The FOX News of Russia, I'm afraid.

8. I did want to ask why almost all of their radio/TV talent |
|
have British or American accents -- Is RT benefitting from all those job cuts at the BBC, Reuters, Associated Press, etc.?

Everything is anti-American. I'm not surprised to hear.
