Trump: Bill Ayers Wrote Obama's Book! & "Look, he was born 'Barry Soetero."

Trump: Bill Ayers Wrote Obama's Book!

During an interview aired Friday night on Sean Hannity's TV show, Donald Trump branched out beyond his simple commitment to birtherism as a political issue -- and also advocated vigorously for another conspiracy theory regarding President Obama, alleging that Bill Ayers was the true author of Obama's 1995 book, Dreams From My Father!

Trump has previously talked about this particular conspiracy theory. But in this case, it was on the most high-profile platform yet, in the form of a featured extended interview on Fox News. The long discredited theory has also been propagated by the right-wing web site World Net Daily, whose founder Joseph Farah claims to have been talking with Trump "quite a bit."

During the Hannity interview, Hannity and Trump speculated that Obama's real birth certificate might contain information he does not want the public to see, such as information stating that he was a Muslim. Trump then segued into questioning Obama's whole background.
"Look, he was born 'Barry Soetero.' Somewhere along the line, he changed his name," said Trump
-- referring to the surname of Obama's mother's second husband, Lolo Soetoro, whom she married four years after Obama was born. "I heard he had terrible marks, and he ends up in Harvard. He wrote a book that was better than Ernest Hemingway, but the second book was written by an average person."

"You suspect Bill Ayers?" said Hannity.

"I said, Bill Ayers wrote the book," Trump replied.

Trump also added during the discussion: "He was best friends with Bill Ayers. Bill Ayers was a super-genius. And a lot of people have said he wrote the book. Well recently, as you know last week, Bill Ayers came out and said he did write the book."
"Barack Obama wouldn't be president -- and, you know, I wrote many best sellers, and also, number one bestsellers including The Art of the Deal. So I know something about writing. And I want to tell you, the guy that wrote the first book didn't write the second book
. Obama made a big mistake when he wrote the second book. Because the second book was not Ernest Hemingway, it was about 37 classes below. So, the first book is Ernest Hemingway-plus. The second book was written by somebody that was much more average."

The lunacy WILL continue and it will Grow.

This fool, who thinks he is so brilliant, has actually bought into all of these old, idiotic conspiracies. Such a buffoon.

It is simultaneously hilarious and infuriating.

They say they love Trumo for doing this birther stuff, but they don't believe for a SECOND that he's a conservative/teabagger, and most say they would NOT vote for him.

12. He actually does seem like some of those Hillary supporters who just couldn't accept Obama and
bought into every conspiracy theory. It was a small percentage but they were potent - and some are still around.

The most bizarre part of this is that Trump is just learning of and buying into conspiracy crap that is years and years old and was long ago debunked. He treats it like it is new. I want to know what the people around him are doing? They have to see what an absolute fool and idiot he is making of himself - along with what a hateful bastard he sounds like. It is all so incredibly bizarre.

4. President Trump would be the same person as President Obama
I know that is true because I've seen the pictures that morph Bush to Obama, which makes them the same person. If that is true, President Obama will just morph into President Trump.

I'll bet they are the same person now. I mean, have you ever seen them together in real life? It doesn't matter if you've seen them together on Televison. I saw the White Hosue and the Empire State building blown up on TV. The can do anything on TV.

We are a nation ruled by some evil alien who, in the guise of King George of England, morphed into President George Washington and has continued to morph into every President since then.

And that means that Obama wasn't born in the Kenya, but on Llyrdis, the fourth planet orbiting Aldebaran where Cthulu lives, when Cthulu isn't dead in a city under the pacific.

17. I'm almost starting to believe
that Trump is doing this to make the GOP look stupid. Given his previous support of Democratic candidates it's sort of hard to imagine he had some "Come to Jesus" moment with Teabaggery.

He's out there spouting the most stereotypical birther teabag nonsense and getting all kinds of press for it. It's like he's airing their dirty laundry. He's drawn them in and is getting their support.

Whether or not it is intentioned he's shining a light on the cockroaches.

If we didn't have more pressing things to be focusing on I would really be enjoying the sideshow.

20. I have also been wondering the same thing Trump is trying to make the GOP sound stupid.
Edited on Sun Apr-17-11 09:29 AM by gordianot
It is not very difficult to make the GOP sound stupid when the radical conservatives serve up a plate of sheer ignorance every day. Given Trumps quick turn in political leaning in recent days I have been wondering just why he has made this turn. Some say it is to boost the ratings of his pathetic television show which is possible. In the immortal words of another ( and very effective politician) he is doing this because he can, What is the our outcome in a critical period when the GOP needs to develop a viable candidate to run in 2012? Trump is sucking all of the proverbial oxygen out of the room very early. He is playing to the most ignorant elements of the Republican Party laying out all of the stupidity that has emerged from the far right Tea Party types. Any one else uttering the same bullshit from the far right is going to sound like a Donald Trump clone. Let an opportunistic, self rightous, demagouge steal from the GOP. Surely Trump knows he is really helping the Democratic Party specifically Barak Obama. For the first time Obama is in a position to make Birther jokes about himself. My bet is Trump knows very well who stands to benefit from his ranting. Trump's sincerity lines sounds to me like the boast monolouge from a professional wrestler before the match. The outcome is similar Trump got some immediate (preplanned?) media exposure.

While only a fringe element truly believe most of the stuff, there is a HUGE contingent of people who just simply hate Obama and love to see other people lambasting him in public. Hell, just take a look here around DU to see.

So while Trump's latest meanderings appear to be the desperate "look at mes" of someone wanting attention, in fact, there's a significant portion of those who don't believe the crap that he's shilling but love gloating because someone is putting President Obama down.

http://twitter.com/waltershapiroPD/status/59651001191370752

I thought that was kind of an obvious yet, so far, unsaid point.

The more policy/political book he wrote after he became a Senator had people doing research, helping, blah, blah, blah.

That was the book that wasn't as personal or uniquely his own voice as the first one was.

37. I think Trump knows exactly what he's doing.
Trump gets so much attention for his loony tune life. He knows nothing he says is true but it gets him more press. He's not running for president and behind the scenes, he's laughing that people are so gullible. This is all due to Trump's 'show boating.' Trump just gave $50,000 to R. Emanuel for his mayoral bid. Trump will not allowing anyone to see his finances. He says he will, but then he knows he's not running so he'll never have to. I know he will make up some more tidbits that he knows outright aren't true but he wants to be a wacko to get more press and viewers to his reality show. I will agree that Trump is a buffoon, but he's playing a lot of people like a fine tuned violin. :tinfoilhat:

I guess that's because one of "the blacks" couldn't have demonstrated such insightful and eloquent writing.

This attitude is so common and such a familiar one for most black folk that I know - we're assumed to be unable to measure up and when we prove that we can, certain white folks surmise - often out loud - that the superior work product couldn't be ours but was instead produced for us by a white person.

Good Lord - why is this guy being taken seriously by anyone!?

Somewhere there's a lawsuit brought up against "Barry Soetoro" for illegally occupying the office of the Presidency or some crap.

That's why I'm with those who wonder if Trump's doing this to hang this stuff around the Republicans' necks like cement bricks. He's bringing out all the old birther/'bagger chestnuts. And now he's urging the congressional Repubs to keep up the rallying cry?

But why? The state of Hawaii is WAY over this crap and has said as much. Everything he's said can be disproven, yet he's polling the highest among potential Repub nominees.

It's as if he's leading them over a cliff...

and Daddy's money - don't forget that. He's NOT a self-made man, no matter how much he tries to market himself as such.

You have to be born a Donald Trump. Anybody can be a Barack Obama.

54. Of all the things they think barack obama was able to do,
How do they explain him not changing his name to something more american sounding? I mean, if he could fake everything else, why not the name too?

56. Unlikely he was born B.Soetoro since his mom hadn't met Soetoro yet.
BUT it is likely Obama's name had been legally changed when he was adopted by Lolo Soetoro. Who knows when -or even if- Obama legally changed it back. He's never said he did.

64. I'm not 'buying' anything.
I'm having some name problems myself right now very similar to what Barack Obama may have experienced when he started using the name Barack Obama instead of Barry Soetoro.

I was born when Social Security numbers were not issued at birth. One applied when one got a job for which taxes were deducted. So in the late 1960s I was able to get a S.S. card bearing the name I preferred not the one on my birth certificate. All my driver's licenses have been in my chosen first name not my birth certificate first name. The last name has remained the same.

Now at the Dept of Motor vehicles they are telling me i need to get my name legally changed to renew my D.L. (now expired because they wouldn't renew it!)

I've learned quite abit about name change issues. I wonder when/if Barack Obama legally changed his name to barack Obama. His mother had obviously had it changed when her husband Lolo Soetoro adopted Barack.

60. WTF???
So Obama was born and raised in Kenya, but is the son of his Indonesian step-father. Yeah that makes SO much more sense.

I think all the spray tan and hair gel is killing his brain cells.
