"We need, as a nation, to reexamine the single-payer plan" - Donald Trump

Great idea - let's.

The goal of health care reform, wrote Trump, should be a system that looks a lot like Canada. "Doctors might be paid less than they are now, as is the case in Canada, but they would be able to treat more patients because of the reduction in their paperwork," he writes.

The Canadian plan also helps Canadians live longer and healthier than Americans. There are fewer medical lawsuits, less loss of labor to sickness, and lower costs to companies paying for the medical care of their employees. If the program were in place in Massachusetts in 1999 it would have reduced administrative costs by $2.5 million. We need, as a nation, to reexamine the single-payer plan, as many individual states are doing.

5. I don't think he does.
To me it is becoming more obvious by the day.If it wasn't before.
I do like the idea of single payer though.
I still think he's nuts.

6. Trump actually has some cores of good ideas -- Too bad he's such a jerk
I'm guessing that Trump isn't serious.about running for President (or doesn't really expect to win if he does) and is just doing and saying whatever it takes to generate some publicity and fill his needy ego.

It's too bad though, because he has had some good ideas, and is one of the few who have actually raised the issue of our selling out to China.

If he had decided to actually run an issue oriented campaign, it might have at least made the race more interest g than just the centrist Democrat conventional wisdom vs. the GOP conventional wisdom

12. honestly, i think in his heart of hearts, he's a left-of-center democrat.
but more importantly, he's an egomaniacal opportunist, and running as a democrat against an incumbent rarely pays off. he gets far more publicity and business-friendly rewards for running as a republican. the birther crap is just pandering and attention-seeking.

19. I'm beginning to wonder if Trump is playing "Colbert-esque" head games
with the Republicans? There doesn't seem to be any other logical explanation. I wonder if his big announcement is simply going to be that he just "punk'd" the Republicans.......badly?
