The xenophobic nutbaggers will love this. So much for Mitch's chances at the GOP Nom next year ...

"INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Arab heritage organization is honoring Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels for his work in the public sector.

The Arab American Institute will present Daniels with the Najeeb Halaby Award for Public Service during their 13th annual Kahlil Gibran Spirit of Humanity Awards Gala in May.

The group says in a news release that the award is also in recognition of Daniels' pride in his ethnic heritage. The governor's paternal grandparents are from northern Syria."

1. remember the woman who told McCain that Obama was an Arab?
To which McCain assured her that he was not but was in fact a decent family man and a decent citizen - implying that one could not be both an Arab and a decent family man and a decent citizen. I wonder how they can handle a candidate of their own party who actually has an Arabic family background?

McCain: Obama not an Arab, crowd boos

McCain passed his wireless microphone to one woman who said, "I can't trust Obama. I have read about him and he's not, he's not uh — he's an Arab. He's not — " before McCain retook the microphone and replied:

"No, ma'am. He's a decent family man citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign's all about. He's not ."

“Come on, John!” one audience member yelled out as the Republican crowd expressed dismay at their nominee. Others yelled "liar," and "terrorist," referring to Obama.
