Vabby's Semi-Townhall Review: The Plight of a FanGirl!!
Edited on Wed Apr-20-11 05:29 PM by vaberella
Yes, I totally love my President.

When I hear him speak....I totally have a POTUS-gasm.

It is rather sad...well for me it's normal. My sister has even said, can you turn off your "boyfriend" so you can pay attention to what I'm saying. My mum is like, "How is Pelosi today? Is Barack healthy?" Yes, it's rather interesting to come to my house because I speak, and by default my family members speak about politicians as thought they're family members.

For instance my mum got her citizenship last year and one of the questions was who was speaker of the House (it was Congresswoman Pelosi) and my mum went into her entire bio as a response. The woman told us our mum was well versed in current and historical politics of the US. And my mum said it's thanks to me. C-Span and MSNBC normally dominates the house when I'm there. My sister's influence on my mum is, "LadyGaga? She's so out. It's all about Katy Perry's Fireworks, now." <---I don't pay attention crap---so, I was like what?!

Anyway...obviously this Townhall was really great. I normally hate facebook (yeah I have one). But this was really worthwhile and I found really interesting. I like his interaction with us and how he details. But as a fangirl---I guess that's part and parcel. You can see in my posts on HCRC Part Deux or Immmigration Reform I do have some reservations about some of the ideas he put forth.

Such as: 1) reimbursement for hospitals similar to "race to the top" <---Which I'm not liking.
2) issues with the penal aspects of immigration---which I think could lead to abuse and extortion of illegal immigrants in the nation.

So I do take some issue with some of the things. But overall it was a great townhall. It definitely fulfilled my made my fangirl heart race a bit in excitement. It was really invigorating----with Nancy Pelosi, right there with the President, taking his back as per her usual.

It's 12:16am Thursday in Paris right now and I'm so excited post-Townhall that I can't go to sleep.

Plus I heard MC Hammer was there---awesome. Oooh and I'm listening to my girl, Nancy Pelosi.

NP's ideas: Main idea of meeting---is Science oriented. Clean energy, Health IT, Communication advancement and so on.

I love Nancy...I really do. I'm her fangirl too---always has been. I think since I've been here since 2008---I've been volleying the debates against Pelosi---until now she's super popular. But I remember when she wasn't. It was hard being the only one, or one of the few loud ones supporting her. I think it was me, jenmito, atomickitten, Babylonsister, maybe Jeffersondem, Prosense, and Pirate Smile would defend her. But she's one of the greatest assets on the Dem side in the House. She's great talking right now.

She's wearing FIRE RED like a real leader. She will always be the Speaker of the House in my opinion.

Direct quote, "I want to say something about our President...Isn't he GREAT?" {Applause}

6. The only thing I didn't like (and yes, I didn't like it - a LOT) was her insistence that
IMPEACHMENT be taken off the table.

I find quite a bit more to like about her than that, AND I'm very glad she's in a safe district! Nothing the bad guys can do to touch her.
