1. Are you sure about that?
Born down in a dead man town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up

Born in the u.s.a., I was born in the u.s.a.
I was born in the u.s.a., born in the u.s.a.

Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

Born in the U.S.A...

Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man said son if it was up to me
Went down to see my v.a. man
He said son, don't you understand

I had a brother at Khe Sahn
Fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there, he's all gone

He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now

Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years burning down the road
Nowhere to run aint got nowhere to go

Born in the u.s.a., I was born in the u.s.a.
Born in the u.s.a., I'm a long gone daddy in the u.s.a.
Born in the u.s.a., born in the u.s.a.
Born in the u.s.a., I'm a cool rocking daddy in the u.s.a.

Only the crazy right-wingers will see it as proof that Obama has done time!!!

14. I'm sure he feels like a...
...dog that's been kicked too much!!! Not just by the right wing but lefties as well...sadly.

But, if it was used for his campaign, I'm sure Bruce would be happy to redo the lyrics to fit better.

After the election: "Quit kicking me you buncha lefties!! Ow!! OW!!"

20. He hasn't said that!
I'm saying it and many lefties are saying...ENOUGH ALREADY. Too much complaining undermines constructive criticism...it just turns into wearisome, tedious groaning and whining.

21. Any poets out there...let's write the lyrics ourselves.
Born down in sunny Honolulu...

I'm stuck already....

Born down in the fiftyith state
His mama was screamin' and his daddy was late.

25. perfect song, just change vietnam to afghanistan and iraq
and you have it, the sense of being lost in our birth country
inability to find work
inability to take part in the american dream

and obama seems to want to keep these inabilities in place, he should use this song as it describes o's vision of the usa greatly

wars continue and fuck the little people

5. This is why Obama is President
and a lot of numbnuts leftists are not. They just want to "piss off the birthers," while Obama is actually trying to run a country.

11. I think non-birther Republicans would enjoy the humor, too.
Besides, the birthers aren't out to help anyone run a country.

15. Springteen said 'no' to many people using his songs
Edited on Mon Apr-25-11 08:12 AM by karynnj
until Kerry's campaign asked - and were told 'yes' for 'no surrender, no retreat'. Springsteen knew and liked Kerry from the 1980s when both were involved in helping vets. He was then very active in both the Kerry and Obama campaigns.

Chris Christie, a HUGE Springsteen fan, who went to hundreds of his shows, wrote an op-ed in our local nj paper complaining when Springsteen did concerts for Kerry. Knowing how committed Springsteen was to Kerry and Obama, he should have known that Springdteen would not play for his inauguration, but he asked anyway. When he refused, Christie hired a Springsteen cover band.

So, yeah, kind of a bad song to use.

That would be a bad idea. It would make people think that this birther BS is getting to him and the rethugs would revel in that.

Edited on Mon Apr-25-11 05:24 PM by CakeGrrl
I wouldn't put it front and center during the campaign, because among other things, it will give the MSM a shiny new toy to speculate that he's trying so hard to convince everyone. :eyes:
