Dana Benbow (Indy Star): Hiring surge helps grads ace job search

Hiring surge helps grads ace job search

Apr 26, 2011
Dana Hunsinger Benbow

Kyle Kuntz didn't send out a single resume. He didn't fill out any applications. He didn't have to endure even one grueling job interview.

Yet the Ball State University student has already landed an impressive position as a business engineer at Hunt Construction Group.

He's not alone.

Employers are hiring college graduates this spring in numbers not seen since before the recession. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, spring hiring is expected to jump 19.3 percent, compared with a 5.3 percent rise last year and a 22 percent drop in 2009.

2. Don't worry--the Angry Brigade will be along shortly
to explain to us why this doesn't count and that Obama is Satan incarnate.

4. That is great news
I graduated a few years after the dot com bust and withered away for a few years in the Bush economy. I rebounded from it and I'm doing great now, but it was a very depressing and difficult time for me and many others.

5. I remember that time, and you're right, it was difficult. I'm hoping this
a positive signal for the overall economy.
