It has come to this
IT'S COME TO THIS....

For the second consecutive day, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was peppered with questions about President Obama's birth certificate. It wasn't just some fringe reporter who worked his way into the briefing room -- the questions came from CNN's White House correspondent.

It was a reminder that our political discourse is deeply stupid. It was also a reminder that media outlets that already know the "birther" conspiracy theory is baseless continue to treat this garbage as a legitimate area of inquiry.

And so, this morning, when reporters gathered at the White House for the morning gaggle, staffers distributed copies of the president's birth certificate -- not the one released in 2008, but the "long-form" certificate requested by hysterical conservatives.

Soon after, White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer posted this item online.

<...>

Update: All of the cable networks are hanging on Donald Trump's every word this morning, including his boast that he feels "very proud." American politics is often painful, but I can scarcely believe how stupid it's become.

1. Obama should have waited longer to release it.
Let them all get worked up over this, turn it into a central campaign issue, then pop their little bubble right at the last minute when they've put all their eggs into that one basket.

What complete and utter morons Birthers look like right now.

of the world.

'The' Donald to me has become the new Sarah Palin and that is the only reason
I'm enjoying this.

There are so much stuff on Donald Trump it's not even funny so I say let's
get him in there asap and let's sit back and enjoy the fun.

5. "He wasn't talking to the public...he was talking to news organizations"
Steve Benen

After the White House released President Obama's long-form birth certificate to the press this morning, the president took five minutes to speak to reporters. Obama spoke without notes, and spoke with the tone of an annoyed parent, frustrated that children can't get their act together -- a tone that struck me as entirely appropriate given the incessant stupidity that passes for our political discourse in 2011.

<...>

The president went on to say that he felt like this was necessary after seeing last week that, instead of talking about the budget fight and the radical qualities of the Republican agenda, major outlets were preoccupied with covering conspiracy theories.

"We do not have time for this kind of silliness," Obama said. "We've got better stuff to do. I've got better stuff to do. We got big problems to solve, and I'm confident we can solve them, but we're going to have to focus on them, not on this."

He wasn't talking to the public, which has never much cared about this -- he was talking to news organizations that need to know better and, for all of our sakes, must show better judgment.

<...>

Yup, the media was about to launch a free advertising campaign for the birthers. CNN:

6. Oh, this won't shut them up at all.
They're too invested in their bullshit. They have to come up with something else now. Most of them will finally quit, but a small pocket will latch on to some new theory and scream twice as loud... and look a 1000 times more stupid.

Thats what the freepers are all a tizzy now if you check.

Like the doctors, nurses blah blah. were they real?

Here is the problem though. this WAS a US army hospital Barack was born at. You would think the records would exist.

They might not. See, many military/civilian personnel records were burned in a massive fire in the 70's. this effected those that were working for the army roughly around the time the president was born. from 1955 to about 1965.

How do i know this? My dad was an army soldier at the time and my mom was a civilian office worker.. To get their retirement benefit(credit for time in service) the government had to use "anecdotal" evidence.

http://www.archives.gov/st-louis/military-personnel/fire-1973.html (this is only a partial list. my dad was discharged '62)

Note my dad and mom(whose records were lost too) STILL got their benefits.

You know the freeps will now say the fire was a conspiracy. ;-)

btw, I don't think they know yet about the fire. but they will soon.

Enjoy your heads up.
