Birth Certificate was well timed |
|
I'm sure that many people are dissatisfied that the White House released Obama's birth certificate, making it seem as if it were a necessity. However, I think this was politically well-timed. The issue seemed to have faded back into the fringes around New Year's, and Republicans who wanted to appear mainstream avoided questions about Obama's birth and, consequently, legitimacy. However, there's been a resurgence of the issue from potential challengers. The way I see it, the Presidential candidates had to push this issue to inspire base Republicans, and talked it up as best they could. Now, they've spent several weeks or months essentially saying nothing. They have taken attention away from current political issues, and they may well seem irrelevant as candidates. Sure, opposition to Obama will still be founded on racism. However, the Republican field has been gutted for the moment.

1. Now Trump will have to start talking about why he is qualified to be President. |
|
Good luck with that, Donald.

5. Agreed, it is too bad he had to do so though |
|
The trust of the president was bleeding away to much. If he had waited any longer the recovery of that trust might not have rebounded far and fast enough.
It would have been great having trump around forcing the other rep candidates to start spewing his inanities. And then "trump" them all with a release. This is far safer though.
Trump no long has a reason to exist as a candidate

As a man of Hispanic descent, I don't want to validate the need to produce one's papers at every stop or at every utterance I make. Perhaps there is some way to use this to defeat various bills around the country where people would be asked to prove their nationality/citizenship or the right to vote, or in general the notion that only the long-living natives have the legitimacy to say what America is really about.
