if the Donald were ever to run as the Democratic candidate for President, I'd have to vote Republican.

and given money to Democratic candidates.
It's not completely beyond the realm of possibility.

12. After courting the birthers, I severely doubt he'd run as a Democrat. |
|
He'd probably run as an independent or Republican. I do sincerely hope he runs as an independent - nothing would entertain me more than watching Trump Naderize the GOP!

5. I doubt he would be considered a viable Democratic candidate... |
|
Democrats generally nominate candidates who are qualified for the job. They might not be the coolest or most charismatic politicians out there, but they normally have experience and are intelligent individuals.
Republicans operate under an entirely different mindset. It's why Trump is leading in the polls, they nominated Bush and a talentless actor about 30 years ago.
Unfortunately, it often works because the Democrats do base their primary decision often off the body of work of a candidate rather than their mouth.
It explains Mondale, Dukakis, Gore and Kerry. All very good men, who would have made fantastic presidents. Sadly, voters don't necessarily want that.

when Trump was considering a run in 2000 on the Reform ticket, he had some proposals that were more progressive than any Democratic candidate, including universal health care and a tax on personal assets over $10 million to pay off the national debt.
The man is all over the map on policy. It's the mark of a neophyte.
