4. Yes, but beyond and behind the racial issue is
the underlying right wing practice of using ANY issue (or non issue) to attack any Democrat of prominence.

Presidents and presidential candidates especially, but also congressional leaders, party leaders, etc.

And mainstream Republicans and mainstream media encourage the practice, tacitly or otherwise.

6. Yes, but the OP makes no reference to the "underlying" practice
that DID NOT occur with ANY of these presidents, regardless of political party. You can spin this "issue" any way you like but most see the "truth" for what it is.

3. Take it a step further
Depending on whether we go by the Constitution going into effect or the Declaration of Independence - we didn't have a FULLY AMERICAN born President until either John Tyler (1790) or Van Buren (1782).

All those previous were the children of citizens of Great Britain, and they were born as citizens of Great Britain albeit with the stain of colonialism on them.

8. And when they are now bitching about dual citizenship - I think some
of those countries also have dual citizenship?

10. We at DU need to recognize that this goes beyond Obama's race if
we are to successfully fight it. The Republicans which now rule the party are vicious. They tried to destroy Bill Clinton. They accused Al Gore of lying about inventing the internet, as well as used every means to steal an election he clearly won by a huge margin. They tried to destroy the honor of the war hero, John Kerry. They want to win at any cost. We must realize this. It is not just race. It is the fact the President is a Democrat. The irony is that Obama and Gore and Clinton are not even that liberal. They are just dems. It's all these jokers need.

12. I'd like to point out something.
Many of our Founding fathers were not born in the Unites States of America... you see, they created this country before it was one. They were born as Colonialists.

13. Only the last five are relevant.
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 04:03 PM by Vattel
The first two didn't need to be natural born citizens to qualify for the Presidency.

Still, proponents of the newer birther theory that only the children of American citizens qualify as natural born citizens will have to say that Obama is one of five presidents who were illegitimate.

14. And all of them had to provide birth certificates to affirm their citizenship, right?
Oh wait, only the black one had to do that.
