Tavis Smiley interviews Jeremy Scahill on Osama bin Laden (May 2)

In case you missed it, here's video of investigative journalist Jeremy Scahill appearing on Tavis Smiley on Monday. For example, Scahill criticized the celebrations of the killing of bin Laden: "I think that quite frankly it’s idiotic to treat these kinds of international events like sporting events, like it’s the World Cup that we’re cheering for here. I think in a way it really is insulting to those who’ve lost loved ones in these wars and who lost loved ones on 9/11, to trivialize it by jumping up and down like that." He also defended the Obama administration's action: "I think that President Obama treated this as a law enforcement operation to try to bring a culprit to justice rather than invading a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, and I think our response to that should be one of reflection on where we go from here, because this certainly isn’t over." (Scahill seems to be a smart guy, but why does he have to precede everything with "I think that"? Otherwise good interview.)

He detests President Obama because he didn't bow down to Travis' massive ego and kiss his ring, and I hope his hatred and jealousy of this president is eating him up inside like acid.

Doesn't make him anything except a fool with a damaged ego when talking about President Obama.

11. The sad part is, I like Tavis, he's a smart guy.

Like his show a lot, but he let his ego get the best of him over, well, nothing of import.

7. Are you saying that Scahill is upset with Obama's success?

I guess he is in the very left category that will criticize based on his ethical stance but I'm not sure it's exactly eating him alive.
