So I have a friend here in So. GA...
he's a Vietnam Vet, Marine, Harley rider. He's had an anti-Obama sticker on his old pick-up since I've known him. Well, I spoke to him yesterday.
He is mightily impressed that the President got Osama, and the precise way it went down. And the sticker is gone! He made a point of letting me know that, since he knows how I feel.
Just a little slice of life here, and I was gratified to hear about it.

1. Well, I have a conservative acquaintance who is likewise impressed with OBL's demise.
She, however, is quick to point out that although Obama deserves kudos for his brass, taking out bin Laden required abandoning liberal principles.

I found it to be an interesting rationalization.

5. By "liberal priciples," she means what used to be known as American priciples.

6. HYuck. Those liberal principles such as being "soft on defense".
I hope slowly they learn. Like sowing seeds under the snow. Some will sprout.

12. Interesting
FDR was "liberal" and he took on Japan and Germany at the same time. I think American conservatives need a break from the GOP propaganda machine.

24. Maybe it's impossible for your friends and family...
But not for hers.

Even So. GA has room for differing opinions...

4. That's good to know
My neighbor was criticizing Obama the other day. He's a Korean War Era Veteran, ex Marine. Of course, I spoke up and defended Pres. Obama, politely of course. I haven't had a chance to talk to him since OBL was killed to see what he has to say now -- I think he's been avoiding me!

8. I know a person at work that had about four anti-Obama stickers
on his truck. I don't know what happened, but they are gone since a few days ago. I doubt very much the guy is going to vote for Obama or anything, but could it be some of the military-type cons have decided to give the pres some grudging respect? Or is that even possible? I'm sure not going to ask the guy....he gives me the willies.

9. Same here in AZ
The nite that it was announced I was at a bar with a bunch of musician friends, most of which are Republicans and Conservatives. The celebration was nonpartisan. When the President finally gave his speech, there were tears in the eyes of even the most diehard RWer. He came up to me with a huge grin on his face and hugged me, saying, "Your President did good. You should be proud."

Yep. I am. Always was.

My FB page (full of more RW musicians) has been full of praise for our President. Yes, there have been "minor" complaints, but no "Give Bush some credit" crap that would push me over the edge. Mostly, just whining about the photos, which a few of them even say our President got right.

I'm proud of my President and my Right Wingnut friends. Hell, it might even be safe for me to put an Obama '12 sticker on my car in this asshole, Conservative, teaper town.

15. I know what you mean.
I also know that's what he was "thinking". Great guy, his wife is one of my best friends. In the past two years he's actually come around a bit.

16. Wrong about this man. Vietnam made him not like war or violence
at all; he's still dealing with PTSD, and I suspect he will be for the rest of his life.

20. My Republican boss called me to compliment the President
He told me that "finally, Hussein did something right" and that it was good that "Hussein finally killed Osama, since he already killed the economy".

Some days it's hard to put up with this guy, but he is actually a great boss.

23. I got total silence from my republican bosses all week
I didn't bring it up, heck they are soooo sensitive about obama i know NOT to ever bring anything political up, i need my job!
But all week when i came in room where they keep Seattle paper, it had large headlines for days about getting Osama, normally
it is on top they put it under all the other papers, hid it and never brought it up once all week. They want to pretend it never
happened...

I am 2 1/2 hrs in rural mostly red area east of seattle.
