Well, the media has done a good job of making me concerned about Huntsman now |
|
They keep talking about this guy and now I can actually see him being a problem. They've talked me into it. Am I alone here?

|
Edited on Thu May-19-11 05:25 PM by FrenchieCat
That's what some of us mean, when we say Black Folks have to be twice as good, and work 4 times as hard....when all it takes for Democrats to quiver is a Handsome White Dude with White Hair who without opening his mouth can just show up
There are a lot of folks that think just that way all over the United States.... that's why this country is as fucked up as it is.

11. Yep....that's all it takes these days. |
|
Speaking in complete sentences while White gets one way far these days.
Meanwhile, most Democrats won't even acknowledge Pres. Obama's accomplishments, and nitpick at everything he says and does....right down to every minutia.
But The White Guy?....well, he'll be a swell General Election candidate to fear!
Folks don't even realize how sad it all sounds.

44. speaking in complete, coherent sentences seems to be a tough one for most GOPers |
|
so it's no wonder they get all excited when they think they might have a candidate who can do that.
That is, the ones who can comprehend complete sentences get all excited.

then why not fear Romney? He's ten times more attractive and younger looking than Huntsman. If you let the media get to you then you might as well give up. I watch msnbc and cnn all day, because my job has it on these channels with the volume low and I haven't seen them even mention this Huntsmen guy. I've heard more bout Daniels than this guy, but I seriously doubt the teabaggers would vote for anyone who worked for or praised Obama.

41. The RNC changed their primary rules. It's no long winner take all. Delegates are |
|
parceled out equal to the percentage of votes won. In theory, all someone has to do is come in second place on a consistent basis and let a few outliers rotate the first place vote and one could easily win the Republican nomination.

12. The folks who have been pushing him in the media |
|
would really love to see him stir things up, and further fragment the Republicon party. It's a futile effort, as anyone in the reich wing who would vote for a Mormon in the first place would vote for the rich Mormon, Mitt Romney.
I guess there's the flip-flopper thing about Mitt, but if a Repuke voter is going to hold Mitt's old positions against him, then they have to acknowledge that such old positions are pretty much the ones Huntsman has now.
Don't worry, Huntsman is running for vice-president, as a potential sop to the Mormon voters who will be sorely disappointed that Mitt got screwed for the nomination when the chips finally came down. It's the top of the Rethug ticket that worries me.

There is a large Mormon vote in the Nevada Republican primary (or caucus).
In any event, fundamentalist Christians won't vote for either of them (think Iowa and South Carolina).

22. Huntsman's too sane to attract the people he needs to win. |
|
Who is his base in the party? The teabaggers won't touch him because he's not nuts enough on social issues, and the business community has lined up behind Romney already. So barring a Romney implosion of cataclysmic proportions, Huntsman would have to self-fund just to get enough national exposure in time for Iowa.

25. The General GOp haven't figure out how to kick the Tea Partyiers to the curb yet. |
|
While the TP'ers call so many shots Huntsman doesn't have a chance. He is w-a-y too moderate. 2012 election year will be the year for Huntsman to start getting some recognition.
BUT.........I have an inkling that the 2012 election will also be the demise of influence of TP'ers. Their call to rank and file GOPers to vote only for extreme Rw conservatives for office will back fire. The Tea party influence will have blown it's wad in 2012 and will leave things wide open for Huntsman in 2016. I honestly think that Obama has it in the bag 2012...any GOP'er in serious contention for the White House will be looking to 2016. I think THEN you can worry about Huntsman.

He's flip-flopped on a lot of issues. It's the pre-flip-flop Huntsman that may have posed a challenge to Pres O. No worries about that though as Huntsman has come out squarely in favor of the Ryan Budget.

At most, 'less than 1%'. Quite probably less than 0.5% - that's why they called it '0%'. In fact, looking at the full poll results, it was 1 respondent out of 468: http://www.suffolk.edu/images/content/FINAL.Suffolk.University.National.Survey.Marginals.May.17.2011.pdf

But, like I said, his initial splash into the race revealed him to have kowtowed to the Ryan Budget right out of the gate. The GOP apparently think banding together on that sinking ship will prevent them from drowning.
