Democrats Try to Woo Consumer Advocate to Run (Elizabeth Warren)
From the New York Times:

WASHINGTON — Officials in the Democratic Party are wooing Elizabeth Warren to run for the Senate against the Massachusetts Republican Scott P. Brown rather than have her continue to set up the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

(snip)

In seeking to enlist Ms. Warren for a different campaign, Democrats are taking aim at two birds. They can lay the groundwork for a potential compromise over a different candidate to lead the new agency and, they hope, they can increase their chances of reclaiming Mr. Brown’s seat by sending against him a woman who has won considerable acclaim and popularity among liberals for taking on the financial industry.

(snip)

In response to a question about whether she would enter the race, a spokeswoman for the agency, Jen Howard, said Monday, “Elizabeth Warren is 100 percent focused on building the new consumer agency.”

If she chose to run — party officials say she is intrigued but far from decided — she would emerge as the most high-profile contender among those currently in the mix.

1. Who's afraid of Elizabeth Warren?
Apparently those who don't want to see any accountablity in the Banking Reform Law. She won't have a chance against Brown if she has to be coaxed into it. The trick is to get her confirmed as consumer advocate and then get her funded so she can do the job. It may be hard because the slimy financial industry has purchased bipartisan support from "our" representatives.

2. No surprises that the party doesnt want Warren to head Consumer.
Geitner and Summer are against her which means big business is against her and hence Obama will be too in running the agency.
