I'm no fan of hers, but I'm ready to donate to Bachmann's campaign if they'll earmark it for |
|
public speaking lessons for her - since I don't think I can stand spending the next year listening to her staccato screeching.

might keep us entertained for a few more weeks but she will not win the states that don't have a huge evangelical nutbase.
I really wonder what people who support her or Palin really think that either will do to make this country a better place. Neither seem to have any ideas beyond shrill rhetoric that would never be implemented.

4. I think they believe either Bachmann or Palin would make this a mandatory "Christian Nation" |
|
the those supporters believe THAT would save & protect the country from everything. They're all kinda nuts that way.

5. There's one little problem with that theory |
|
Every state has an evangelical nutbase of some size, and they vote in primaries--often when no one else does.
Bachmann has at least a modest chance because primaries are decided by politically active people--and on that side, the most politically active people are the ones who go to church seven days a week.

if that were the case Pat Robertson and Pat Buchannan would have gone much further in the primaries. I think both may have won early primaries based on fundy turnout.
I don't think all politically active people in the GOP are fundies. some, but not all.

8. While she won't win New Hampshire |
|
she has a shot in South Carolina, and that will set Rethug heads spinning. Nevada is the same day, and Mitt will win that, but there's less delegates from NV.
Then comes Florida, and the fundies are thick there, too. After that is Super Tuesday, and five of the fourteen states are fundie-rich. Mitt should do well in Montana and Utah, and have a decent shot at Connecticut, NY, California, and maybe NJ. The others are toss-ups.
Of course, I'm figuring that by Super Tuesday, Pawlenty, Gingrich, Huntsman, and any other also-rans are politically dead. A strong second place finish for any of them in the weeks up to and including Florida invalidates my analysis, and if Caribou Barbie gets in (my bet is that she won't) then everything I've written above is obliterated.
In answer to the last part of your post, they don't care that it can or cannot be implemented, they only want political purity without pragmatism.

9. Maybe Palin goes 3rd Party |
|
She's delusional enough and Narcissistic enough to think she can start some whole new party and win the POTUS out of the gate. Ross Perot got nearly 30% of the vote in 92 with his 3rd party bid.
I can see her doing this. Maybe Bachmann will be VP or Trump just because he like the attention, not because he believes in any of this shit.
reality TV comes to the political arena. Scary stuff when you think about it. Bethanny Goes to Wasington. It could happen.

10. The only way I can see her doing that |
|
is if Bachmann, et al. implode early, and Romney starts to wrap up the nomination. If that happens by Super Tuesday, which is in very early February, there may still be time to get on the ballots of most of the fifty states.
Palin knows that all she has to do is get the roughly 40% of people that are either fundies, or those who would absolutely refuse to vote for Obama or Romney to win, and she has to do it outright, sending it to the House of Representatives is not going to work.
You're right about Perot, if he hadn't quit, then come back in again, he might well have gotten more than 30% of the vote. On the other hand, Perot got most of his support in the West, and Romney's strong there.

11. It's hard for me to see the PTB in the GOP |
|
letting Palin get very far. She's too much of a loose cannon and I don't think they believe they can control her. She's an embarrassment and even they know it.
The primary debates will be interesting. I am really curious to see how the fringe candidates like Bachmann and Santorum will be dealt with.

the Establishment Republicons, the country-clubbers that solely want tax breaks, cannot control the tea partiers in their midsts. All they can hope to do is co-opt whoever the baggers and the fundies manage to shove in their faces. Right now, that looks like Michelle Bachmann to me, if Palin does not run.
While the Establishment is figuring how to make the flawed Romney their candidate, in the end, they will settle for a fully GOP Congress and another term of Barack Obama. Clearly, he caved in to them after the 2010 election, when they got their tax breaks. They know a Repuke Congress will gladly renew the Bush tax cuts when it gets into session in January, 2013. They also want HCR repealed, and they will get that, too.
Looks to me like the country-clubbers get what they want next year, no matter who is the nominee, and who wins the election. Sorry to say that I see it that way.

14. Frankly, the greater the possibility that Barack Obama retains the Presidency |
|
the lower the possibility that we retake the House, or keep the Senate. Americans often prefer divided government, unfortunately.
