Obama says Weiner and wife will 'bounce back'

President Obama sent resigned congressman Anthony Weiner and his wife Huma Abedin good wishes yesterday, saying he is confident they can come back from the scandal that destroyed Weiner's career.

"I wish Rep. Weiner and his lovely wife well," Obama told ABC's Good Morning America. "Obviously, it's been a tough incident for him, but I'm confident that they'll refocus and he'll refocus, and they'll end up being able to bounce back."

Earlier this week, in an interview with NBC News, Obama said that if he were involved in the kind of sexting controversy that Weiner was, he would resign.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said he is not aware of any conversation between Weiner and the president in recent days.

1. It is worth noting that the President, when faced with facts, avoids

mention of his theory that Straight Marriages are 'Sanctified by God' and that the couples share a 'spiritual element' that GLBT couples lack. It would be profoundly interesting to hear what he thinks about this. Is God creating faulty sanctifications for our divine marrieds, or what? What about the Ensigns, Maria and Arnold, what about Newt?
It just seems odd to me that this God and his set of dogmas only comes up when GLBT people are mentioned. See a 'Divine Union' treated like it was without value, and no reaction at all. NO God in the mix, no recitation of Bible verses....
