it makes me so mad that the dems don't go after McConnell
I mean GO AFTER HIM. Like AT TODAY'S PRESS CONFERENCE.

Go after him the way they go after Obama.

Like instead of saying, "Duh, I hope the republicans will do the right thing, duh.", say "These assholes are holding the economy hostage! It's outrageous! It's treasonous! McConnell should be run out of town on a rail!"

McConnell handed the dems all the ammunition they need, when he said his #1 goal is to defeat Obama. USE THIS!!!! It destroys his credibility on the debt and everything else!

Look at this shit statement from the ugly one today:

http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/senate/168979-mcconnell-democrats-approach-to-budget-negotiations-astonishing-and-a-parody

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Wednesday said Democrats' approach to the looming budget crisis has been "astonishing" and closer to a parody than an actual negotiation.

"This isn't a negotiation," said McConnell. “It’s a parody… the Democratic approach to this debate has been astonishing.”

McConnell said he could not understand the position of Democrats who wish to raise taxes and continue overspending considering the nation’s dire fiscal situation.

"In a discussion about reducing the debt they want to increase spending," he said. "In the middle of at jobs crisis they want to slam already struggling businesses with a massive tax hike.”

McConnell said that following next week’s recess, Senate Republicans plan to launch a serious push to bring a constitutional amendment to the Senate floor that would prevent future federal governments from spending beyond their means.

1. I know what you mean. But imagine if he had a majority of the senate. He'd be way worse than even
Boehner.

7. Then, our job is to make sure that doesn't happen in 2012. Why we can't unite
around this common goal, I don't know.

The Supreme Court is *still* at stake, and so is everything we've worked for.

3. Because PrezO's 'negotiator in chief,'
but his language and metaphors did appear more aggressive today, imo.

4. Obama does not believe in confrontation.
Obama seeks consensus, compromise and bipartisanship. Going after McConnell like you say would mean that he's not adhering to what he believes in.

5. Honestly, his surrogates and Dem colleagues should do the HEAVY LIFTING on confrontation
I am glad to hear some strong words from Obama, but most of the agressive "calling out" needs to come from Senate and House Dems. Obama needs to appear above the fray.

9. Pres. Obama is wise enough not to personally attack the people in public who he's negotiating with.
Here's the reality of Obama: "Obama the Confrontational...Comes Out Swinging"

Link: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=433x697862

"Obama picks fight with GOP over tax cuts for the rich"

The primary goal of President Obama’s presser, which just wrapped up, was obvious: He was clearly out to pick a major public fight with Republicans over tax cuts for the rich. Obama mounted a surprisingly aggressive moral case for ending high end tax cuts, casting it as a test of our society’s priorities, and argued — crucially — that anyone who fails to support ending them is fundamentally unserious about the deficit.

Obama is picking this fight in order to reframe the deficit and debt ceiling debate as a battle not over government spending — losing turf for Dems — but over who has the most balanced priorities and who is really working in the interests of the whole country.

Here’s the key quote, which mentions the corporate jet tax break no less than three times:

President Obama decided on a presser after a private meeting with McConnell. WTF do you know what happens behind the scenes between him and McConnell? President Obama is mature and smart enough not to personally attack the people in public who happen to be the chief negotiator for the opposition. Anyone who thinks he should has never spent a day in public office.

I couldn't agree with you more. 100 bazillion!!

At 61, I'm in shock at what is happening in this country. Lived through the 60's and believed that from here we can only go up. Wrong!

MLK and Ghandi - winning through peaceful protests etc. Those days are GONE. The USA is a Fascist country. I've heard other people say this and I've felt it since 2000 when the USSC Appointed *bush.

Don't think we're going to change anything without a revolution and a lot of blood. There is another DU'er who agrees with me. Maybe we are both wrong but, my gut tells me it's the only way.

I'm going to have this quote printed, framed and hang it in my living room.

'When Fascism comes to America it will be draped in the flag, carrying a cross'.

I'm tired and I want a better world for my grands and everyone else's grands. Also for us, what we're not yet ashes in an urn.

I'm not afraid of Black Panthers - I'm afraid of old pasty ass white men who pull the strings. I'm white - I'm more distrustful and afraid of white men in power. Grew up in a very mixed community - no fear. Guys like McConnell and the Koch Brothers, scare me to death.

Gram's getting one of those new fangle doo dads ;) A cell phone with a Taser. As Joan Crawford said in 'Mommie Dearest.' "Don't fuck with me fellas...".

10. I can't even stand looking at the turtle-face liar and his ilk
I am equally as livid at "The Media" for making these POS Republicans look "legitimate" and giving them a national platform to spew their lies.

It's like they've all lost their minds.

13. I've been combating that turtle headed fuck for decades and losing, which only further enrages me.
He needs a blistering and unending full on frontal assault until he takes a dirtnap or runs and hides.

Everyone pussyfoots and tries to nuance his worthless and wicked ass and that is how he wins. He is weak and a fucking whiny ass chump. He is a dirty liar and a hypocrite of epic proportions but he is a chump. The "above the frey" shit plays to him, go after him hard and get him blubbering and whining.
