Obama will not cut any Social Security benefits. You heard it here first.
Go ahead and bookmark this post.

Despite an ever growing pile of speculative BS,
it's just not going to happen.

No matter how many times the claim is repeated...and repeated...and repeated.

The Big Lie is still not the truth.

1. Post a statement by the President saying such. I'll check back.
Until then, no benefit of the doubt is allowed.

Well, unless you are the President posting her incognito.

Mr. President, is that you?

If it is, would you like to hold a DU town hall meeting?

You're really stretching by attempting to make Obama look like he's destroying the program.

I, on the other hand, am absolutely certain there will be no cuts to SS Benefits.

I'd even bet you a DU donation that I'm right.

If what you're suggesting is a cut to benefits, then it won't be happening.

Does "chained CPI" = Benefit cut?
If the answer is yes, then "chained CPI" will not be a part of the deal.

How much clearer can I be?

24. no, "chained CPI" is not a benefit cut.
no, I do not believe it will appear in any deal the President makes.

Do you at least realize how abstract you've had to get to find and speculate about a 'problem' that doesn't even exist yet?
You've gone so far as to comprehend that there will not be any actual benefit cuts. So you had to go a step further and find some other proposed method of adjusting SS and say that it's the great evil to come.

26. In summary, you claim that chained CPI should NOT be considered a benefit cut.
You don't think it will be in the plan. But if it somehow DOES end up in the plan, you will vehemently deny that the President has made any cuts to Social Security benefits.

Got it. :eyes:

I suspect this is exactly what we will be hearing in days to come.:puke:

War is peace.
Freedom is slavery.
We have always been at war with Eastasia.

45. Glad we agree
Now maybe we can get back to REALLY reforming SS. Like lowering the retirement age to 55 and lifting the income tax cap on SS. Not just abolishing the cap on WAGE income of about $104,000 but let's apply the SS and Medicare tax rates to ALL types of income, personal and corporate, with no upper limit.

Let's call it a FLAT RATE tax to rope in wing-nut support.

Now, do you think Mr. Corporate, Wall Street suck-off, President will get anywhere close to these types of Democratic solutions? Really?

I don't know if there will be compromise that results in lowering SS benefits or not, but I can predict with some certainty that such a cut will be framed as anything other than a cut to provide some small cover for the party loyalists. Yeah Team!

"Washington (CNN) -- President Barack Obama is seeking $3 trillion to $4 trillion in deficit cuts over the next decade, a move that would require putting Social Security, Medicare, defense spending and tax reform on the table as part of a balanced approach to cuts, Democratic officials familiar with the negotiations told CNN.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, did not say what types of cuts would have to be considered under such a proposal. In the past, one Social Security adjustment debt negotiators have discussed is cost-of-living.
