our lives are NOT a frigging "chess game"-- I am so damned sick of hearing variations on |
|
"he is playing chess, we just can't see all the moves". BS. we are not chess pieces, whether playing chess, 3-d chess or wizard chess. we are people, and the people we elect to serve us should not be playing complicated games with our lives to the point that we can't see what is actually going on. they may treat us that way, but we are NOT game pieces.

2. I have seen a few that weren't sarcasm. and the point stands--even if it was early on, to claim |
|
that we are being played like chess pieces is just plain wrong.

9. it is a condescending statement |

similar to the one used by Obama when he referred to some people as being "bitter" and "clinging."

14. yeah that was some wicked chess he was playing there... |
|
I seem to remember he followed up with some embarrassing bowling moves while John McCain was busy at a Harley Convention trying to auction off his wife.

A complete nut case who fell off the edge. Trust me, you really shouldn't put your total confidence in a serious chess player!

You are not a chess piece. This is the way of the world, politics or not. People's lives hang in the balance every day, and not only because of what Washington does. You are just as likely to get screwed over by a loved one, a criminal, a natural disaster -- you name it, as the Congress or President of the United States of America. The Senate reflects us. The President reflects us. Whether you like it or not. Obama is not playing games with your life, he is working to pass a bill. It may not be your life that is helped, and for that, I am sorry. If you really want to see what is going on, you'll have to go and get yourself elected, and then maybe all of the Machiavellian fantasies you have concocted in your head as taking place there will seem a little more clear. Real people dealing with real issues in real time, making mistakes -- being all shades of human. It happens. A lot.
It's not chess, it's life. Hell, we see what happens up there reflected every day here at DU.
