Who are the leading candidates?
They need to be popular within the democratic party, good name recognition, a real democrat, able to raise the money etc.
Can anyone suggest some promising candidates?

Just as Dean is? It would be so nice if idealists would at least get their facts right before backing candidates.

Obama is to the right of Nixon, and slightly to the left of GWB.

even though people may be pissed at him if the Repukes were allowed to have a president at this time it would be 10000000% worst. They would not just cut Social Security, they would completely dismantle it. At this point we will just have to make sure we can win both the House and the Senate back so there is no temptation to do anything bad.
EDIT: for spelling, still getting used to typing on my new laptop.

I've taken the last arrow for spineless liars who use progressives for cash and labor and then laugh in our faces when we expect them to keep their promises!!!!!

jobs and a budget surplus? Who needs programs like DADT to stop the deliberate accusations, true or not, that were leading to dishonorable discharges? Who needed DOMA to prevent the likely march toward a Constitutional amendment to define marriage as being between one man and one woman? Clinton/Gore were just NOT FAR ENOUGH TO THE LEFT!!......

The blank slate of 2008 is no more and now Obama has a record that people can go after.
Regardless, Hillary will not do a Ted Kennedy. It is not her style, she knows how it would divide the party.
Alas, we are stuck with Obama for the duration.
