Talk about moving the goalposts!
Kay Bailey Hutchison just said on MSNBC that "the only way to handle the jobless rate is to look at the overburdening regulations in the Obama health care that is causing a freeze on hiring. I talk to businesses from Texas and elsewhere and they're not going to hire until they know what the true costs of the Obama health care plan are."

Really? I thought businesses weren't going to hire until the Bush tax cuts were made permanent.

Of course, Andrea Mitchell did not challenge her on this Texas-sized switcheroo.

2. They will say and do whatever it takes to keep this economy
stagnant and blame it on Obama. The media is complicit.

Mitchell should have asked her if she encourages those businesses to go ahead and hire because it would boost the economy - more employed people, more consumer spending, more products sold, more profit.

3. Great question
Apparently, everyone is supposed to make sacrifices EXCEPT businesses, which are allowed and even encouraged to cower under their beds, shivering out of fear and uncertainty until Mommy and Daddy come in to tuck them in and reassure them that they're safe from the boogeyman in the closet.

6. Cower is the perfect word for what corporations are doing.
And Republicans like Kay give them cover.

4. Bussinessmen from Texas talking to a Republican about Obama's HCR.
They didn't talk about how great it will be for them? You're kidding?

5. Of course, the reality is businesses are not going to hire until they
see enough customers at their door to warrant hiring more workers to handle the customers.

That applies to everything from the corner diner to an auto plant with a 10,000 man workforce.

8. I knew it! Get ready for the new Repuke talking point! KILL HEALTH REFORM

Oh boy if they can get concessions they will make Obama truly look weak because it is his signature accomplishment. Also, you can look forward to even HIGHER premiums if they get their way.

10. The lie that goes on and on and on...
Edited on Fri Aug-05-11 11:53 AM by polichick
The truth is, corporations are making profits because they're laying off people, outsourcing and giving no raises and few benefits - all while execs pump up their own salaries to obscene numbers.

But it's up to Dems to set the story straight - not legitimize the lie by letting them write the script and then buying into it.

12. Yeah, the right shifted to that meme quite some time ago.
You see...

First it was the "uncertainty" of having their taxes raised that was causing the "job creators" not to create jobs.
So the Bush (Now Obama's) tax cuts were extended.

Now it's the "uncertainty" due to the health care reform.

Of course, they'll ignore the "uncertainty" created by businesses and investors who don't know if we will bother paying our bills after the fiasco that surrounded the debate on increasing the debt ceiling which should have been a routing act.

15. Businesses apparently are too fraught with "uncertainty"
to even exist it would seem. :eyes: It seems like if it's not one thing or another, though, I would argue that if anything is causing a lot of uncertainty it is the teabaggers and their Republicans slaves (I'd use another even better term if I didn't think it would be offensive to some people).
