Republicans I work with...
When I came into work today, I asked a Republican I work with if he knew about the US losing their AAA credit rating. His answer:
"Yeah, it got downgraded because they raised the debt ceiling."

In all, three different people, all Republicans, gave me similar answers, "Our credit rating was downgraded BECAUSE THEY RAISED THE DEBT CEILING!"

I have absolutely zero hope for Republicans. They are stupider than I realized. They are absolutely, hopelessly brainwashed.

God help us.

3. Exactly. It's frightening how I will hear the same, unique talking points
It's like they have their marching orders.

8. In a way, they do
Republican caucusing has always been much more like military briefings: the generals issuing orders to be followed by the foot soldiers. No debate, no questions, just following orders.

2. yup - they just suck up the billionaire-funded Talking Point Lies, then repeat them
No thought on their own whatsoever - no interest in truth or reality. That's RepbuliBaggerism for you.

7. My republican friends ...
are either saying it is because of the overall debt, which is the turn they are taking without even batting an eye in going after "entitlements." Or, they go on about how it is the democrats and BO's fault because they should have passed this debt ceiling when they had control of congress (not that they would have blown a gasket for them "hammering it through then ..."

The VERY heart of modern republicanism is the absolute rejection of any and all responsibility.

10. You are right about rejecting responsibility.
And this is perfectly amazing considering they spent the entire 1990s ranting on TV and AM radio about the lack of personal responsibility -usually by liberals, poor people and minorities.

12. Absolutely ..
When I first got exposed to Limbaugh in the 90s, I was like ... Who on earth are these despicable liberals ??? I was young, in my 20s, and not all that worldly, but I NEVER had met ANYONE like who he was talking about ...

The whole thing is one big set up to project a boogeyman to have people blame for all the crape they don't want to take responsibility for.

13. Your last line nailed it -- they willfully break everything and then reject all responsibility.

11. I've met many Republicans who are even dumber than yours. Hard to believe but true
For example, this one older Republican lady who I met while doing business earlier this year was absolutely convinced that President Obama has been secretly working with the terrorists all along and that Obama and the terrorists are planning an all-out surprise attack on the United States sometime soon.

Just yesterday I ran across another brilliant Republican, a devout follower of Fox News, who is convinced beyond doubt that the state of our present economy is the result of a plan that Obama has to destroy our country.

Ignorant Republicans like these are only the tip of the iceberg.
