2. Third
- He's better than Truman, who murdered uncountable numbers of Japanese civilians.
- He's better than Carter, who actually started the Republican economic policies by destroying the trucking industry for truck drivers and starting the deregulation of big business.
- He's better than Clinton, who has no signature accomplishments other than a good economy.
- And he's tied with Johnson who let the Vietnam War rage on.

So, I guess he's tied for third with Johnson, better than I was expecting.

5. Actually,
"He's better than Clinton, who has no signature accomplishments other than a good economy."

Clinton has three signature accomplishments related to the economy: repealing Glass-Steagall, enacting the Enron loophole and NAFTA.

14. So-Called Grassroots hard at work
Edited on Fri Aug-12-11 08:56 PM by FrenchieCat
trying hard to find a way to lose the upcoming elections,
just like they assisted in helping lose the last 2010 elections, the 2004 elections,
the 2000 elections, the 1984 elections, the 1980 elections, and the 1968 elections, etc....!

How farting brilliant! :applause:

Roosevelt - Advanced Civil Rights about 1/100 of a millimeter in about 12 years in office. Shut out most of the African-American community from Social Security as a compromise with Southern Democrats in order to pass Social Security. Was in office 12 years, and had a majority Democratic edges in both houses while there. :applause:

Truman - Dropped the Atomic Bomb on Japan in order to end a war. :applause:

Kennedy - Murdered while in his 3rd year in office. Had done less than Obama has done, and Obama still has till this November.

Johnson - Won due to Murder of JFK, and due to this, was able to force Civil Rights via 3 seperate steps through congress. Embroiled us deep into Vietnam, and declined to run for another term due to it, paving the way for Nixon's election.

Carter - 21% Interest rates and Oil Shortage. Was Political outmaneuvered by Kennedy via a primary and then by Reagan via Iran Hostage crisis. :applause:

Clinton - Happened to be President during the dotcom Bubble, which created jobs (he didn't create those jobs). Signed to do away with glass Steagall banking laws (which eventually led to 2008 banking meltdown), instituted DADT, DOMA, NAFTA, Telecommunications Act of 1996 (paving the way for Cable News gone wild which has undue influence over our elections). Signed into law
Welfare Reform. Impeached for lying about a Blow job. :applause:

Obama - Passed Health Care reform that none of the other Presidents were able to do, and which prevents insurance companies from denying insurance for pre-existing conditions, and allows children to remain covered by their parents' insurance until the age of 26, and provides subsidies for over 30 million poor who cannot afford insurance. Also expansed Medicaid to all individuals under age 65 who are up to 133 percent of the federal poverty level. Killed Osama Bin Laden, something that Clinton nor Bush were able to do. Withdrew the majority of troups from Iraq and set a timetable for Afghanistan. Repealed DADT which had been installed under Clinton. Signed Financial Reform law, established Credit Card Bill of Rights, eliminated subsidies to private lender middlemen of student loans, increased pell grants and created the first ever Bureau of Consumer Protection. Cut the cost of Medicare prescription by 50%. Extended same sex partners federal employee benefits and appointed more openly Gay officials than any other President. Passed the Stimulus and saved 3 million jobs lost by the last fucked up Republican President. Lifted restrictions granting Cuban Americans unrestricted rights to visit family and send remittances to the island. Created more Private sector jobs via incentives in 2010 than Bush had created in 8 years. Allowed first ever Disclosures of White House Visitors to the public. Reversed 'global gag rule'. Signed the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, giving the FDA the authority to regulate the manufacturing, marketing, and sale of tobacco for the first time . Reduced Crack Cocaine sentencing to same as powder Cocaine. Cut down on Nuclear arsenal via Start Treaty. Increased average fuel economy standards from 27.5mpg to 35.5mpg, starting in 2016. Signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, restoring basic protections against pay discrimination for women and other workers. Issued executive order to repeal Bush era restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. Did this in less than 2.6 years, and while the Right and the Left had their foot up his ass. :boring:

16. Sadly the Democrats get worse with time...
The sole exception to this would be elevating Kennedy/Johnson (Great Society / Equal Rights) above Truman:

FDR
JFK/LBJ
Truman
Carter
Clinton
Obama

Obama has sold out more campaign pledges and promises and core beliefs of progressives in 2 1/2 years than FDR even DREAMED of in 12+...say no more squire.

Plus, people tend to look at the negatives more often in the present, and tend to ignore them the farther away the person's presidency gets. So it's too early. If I had to guess how it will end up looking:

FDR
JFK
Obama/LBJ (kinda close)
Truman
Clinton
Carter

He couldn't get out of his own way. His (publicly-voiced) obsession with the hostages empowered the Iranians.

FDR
Truman
LBJ
Kennedy
Clinton
Obama
Carter

Why anybody has Kennedy at the top of their list, ahead of LBJ, is beyond me. What did Kennedy ever accomplish that rivals LBJ? Kennedy's celebrity rivals that of Reagan, and that celebrity is not based in accomplishments, just "mythology".

37. Throw in a couple of Republicans like Eisenhower and even Nixon,
and Obama sinks even farther.

I NEVER thought I would be looking back on Old Iron Assed LBJ as the MOST Liberal President of the last half-century.
THAT really shows How Far to The Right the New Democrat Centrist party has taken our country.

I want a party that will STAND UP for Working Americans."
