The Obama admin is all over this hurricane; nice to see
Edited on Fri Aug-26-11 09:24 AM by babylonsister
how organized they are so far. No freaking out, but prepared.

PS Watching the update on m$nbc; Napolitano, Hurricane Center, Fugate from FEMA and the head of Red Cross are all explaining what they're doing/preparations being taken.

5. Unfortunately, he's going to get a front row seat
unless he evacs from Martha's Vineyard. Hubby and I were talking about that this morning. I think he figured he has more resources to get him out of there after the general public leaves. If he left with them, there may have been disruptions in traffic, etc. Hope he leaves soon. According to the latest model runs, it's swing slightly west again.

6. Even if by some miracle it blows out to sea, we know we were prepared as best as possible
I so worry about all the neighborhood trees in NYC. So many old ones in Woodhaven, Queens where I grew up. You know how it is back there in the older neighborhoods with the mature trees everywhere. They can do so much damage.

9. Along the lines of some black person somewhere might benefit off the
efforts of some white male who works hard and pays taxes.

Visited with my folks for a few days and they refused to turn off Faux, so I sat there and critiqued each story (they finally did shut it off) - but even being as skeptical of their "newz reporting" as I was, I hadn't realized how often it wasn't just slanted against all Dems in general - but how often they'd toss some racial red meat out there.

11. Well, really!
Why isn't he in DC where he belongs? He doesn't have the ability to KNOCK THIS STORM OUT OF COMMISSION from the Vineyard! First he allows an earthquake to happen, and now he is allowing a hurricane!

It is obviously being done to stop the dedication of the MLK Memorial! What a wimp!!!!

8. that's a pretty good overall description of
Obama at his best. May this set the tone for everything that comes his/our way this coming year.

12. Agreed, but isn't it weird that it's notable?
I mean, since when do we clap for an administration just for doing their basic jobs? GWB so lessened our expectations about government that it's notable when an administration just does it's basic job in disaster prep.

13. Imagine President Perry.
Assessing the damage in combat fatigues, Top Gun-style shades and a Stetson hat, throwing out some righteous, hurricane baitin' rhetoric as a warning to any future elemental force that dares to mess with the good ol' USA.
