today's gallup... 43% approve, 50% disapprove |
|
A week ago it was 39-54.
Trending back up... Wednesday's GOP debate and Thursday's address should continue the rebound.
Watching that debate will drive voters toward Obama in droves.

1. Thursday's speech is huge. |
|
Pretty much anything important Obama has done has been called his "defining moment" by somebody, but this speech really is. The impact of this is gigantic. If he goes big, challenges congressional Republicans, and makes 2012 all about jobs, he will win easily, and will make voting out the GOP that much easier.
This is huge. He needs to deliver on Thursday.

Everytime it seems like he starts to rally, he screws it up somehow, or events intervene to fuck it all up.

4. The debate won't do much. |
|
With 14 months to the election the vast majority of those watching will be their base looking for a candidate or some on the left looking for a train wreck. I don't think too many fence sitters will be tuning in.
The speech (and the aftermath) has the potential to cause greater movement - one way or the other.

5. i've very liberal, very democratic, and love President Obama |

yet i disapprove. I think he should stand up more forcefully for the left.
I will still support him however.
