For anyone who thinks that wanting Perry to be the Repub. nominee is the same as
Carter wanting Reagan to win the nomination, there's no comparison. Reagan was an actor-at least he could memorize lines. The last debate showed Perry can't even do THAT-even with notes to fall back on. I REALLY hope Perry is their nominee.

1. I would not be surprised if the
Republican heads don't have a dark horse stashed somewhere taking lessons in running for president.

in TeaNutLand. And a guy who has only been a governor for less than two years? Bring him on.

9. Oh don't underestimate him...
I crossed the Hudson to volunteer against Christie when he was running for NJ Governor while I was living in Yonkers. He might be a boorish asshole who says abrasive things and has extreme policy positions, seems cruelhearted and called the tea-nuts crazy...and all of that works against him...but he is a very likable charismatic candidate in person and it makes him dangerous too. He connects with people in-person in a way that does not come through non-live.

I had people saying to me "I don't know how he won." and all I could respond was "That's because you've never met him."

3. Pay attention jen . . .
The MSM was out bashing Perry all day long on Friday.
They are going to push for a Romney ticket.
Rick is out, Mitt is in.

5. WAY TOO EARLY to make any such predictions. Perry is much stronger in their TeaNut base.

8. Maybe for you it seems too early, but I don't live in Maine.
I live in Idaho, a much more Republican state, and when almost every pundit goes on teevee and says Perry sucks at debates and Romney looks "presidential", there is a reason for it -- it's true.

Mitt has been running for President for 6 years, he has a huge advantage over all of the other wannabes.
Case closed.

10. And Bush could never win against Al Gore because Bush was a moron!
Oh wait...

Whoever gets the repub ticket is the most likely person to unseat Obama, and the election is quite a while away.

ANYONE can "win" against the Dems

16. Perry has proven himself to be unelectable in the general
But that makes him so bad that he's less likely to win the primaries.

17. I agree. Perry comes off as way, way out of the mainstream. But the fact remains - when the economy
is perceived as down - the incumbent president almost always losses. There have been exceptions and Gov. Perry offers a better opportunity to create such an exception to the normal pattern than Gov. Romney. But Perry is so crazy and so dangerous - I would actually fear the risk.
