Do you believe that some women are sexist? |
|
If so, how is such sexism manifested? Can you give examples of it?
Or do you think that, given our history and role in society, it is not possible for women to be sexist?

1. Anyone can be sexist regardless of gender. |
|
No different than that anybody can be racist regardless of ethnicity.

2. Of course, women can be sexist |
|
When I was growing up in Alabama, white women supported the idea that white men were superior to them. What white women got out of this social fabric was a place on the the economic and social ladder that was higher than that of most black women and black men.

5. Of course. It would be silly to believe otherwise. |
|
All it takes is a person of one gender to believe theirs is superior to the other gender, and you have a sexist.

I've met women who wouldn't vote for a female president because "women are too emotional" or "women aren't good at the technical stuff".
Women are also some of the strictest enforcers of societal norms. Men never ask me "so when are you getting married?" or "you want children, don't you?".
Sexism wouldn't have been as prevalent as it was and lasted as long if women didn't participate in it also. I think women who have been screwed over and told that their only worth is in making babies aren't prepared to hear that there are other things they could have done with their lives and so they tend to put pressure on their daughters not to be something different from what they were.

8. Yes. There are women who think men are superior to women. |
|
I think there are a lot of them. Why do you ask?

9. I thought it was spelled "sexy" |
|
Sorry. Yes, not a few women hold discriminatory opinions against other women. Others hold such views where men are concerned. Well, maybe "concerned" is too strong a word, since it's just some chick's point of view. But I suppose it's philosophically possible.

12. Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Liz Cheney, Dr. Laura, |

and others who I cannot remember. They all seem to believe that 'their' men will never turn on them, and that they will always be part of the special few because they are white, not minority.

15. Generally, you will find reverse discrimination in any group that has been discriminated against... |
|
it is a natural reaction.
