A healthy skepticism is good, but it can be taken too far for sure. It's good that you were able to see your own reactions and analyze them the way you did with the knowledge you had gained about yourself.

I'm bipolar and manic depressive, so I always have to be aware of how those factors shape my outlook (the depression especially can alter one's perceptions). There's been many occasion where I've had to say "it's just me" as well.
