LaHood: GOP Doesn't Care About Jobs
LaHood: GOP Doesn't Care About Jobs

Eleanor Clift

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, the lone Republican in Obama’s Cabinet, says his party wants to do nothing in Washington, and is more committed to defeating the president than creating jobs.

Democrats aren’t alone anymore in sounding the alarm about the paralysis gripping Congress these days. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, a former congressman and the lone Republican in the Cabinet, says he believes his own party has put defeating President Obama ahead of creating jobs in America.

“I’ve been in Washington 35 years… and I’ve never seen a time when people have put their own personal political feelings over how we can get the economy moving,” LaHood told Newsweek and The Daily Beast in a wide-ranging interview.

Even in the wake of a national report declaring 200 bridges structurally deficient, including one that brings tens of thousands of commuters from Virginia into Washington each day, and one that spans the home states of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker John Boehner, Republicans are expected to maintain their wall of opposition to a new round of stimulus spending on infrastructure. The infrastructure bill would put thousands of people to work, says LaHood, “but because of their own personal political feelings against the president, they don’t want to hand him a victory.”

1. *tin-foil hat* That's their story.
Really, the business-first-and-always crowd LOVES, LOVES, LOVES high unemployment.

Makes it easier to treat all of us like slaves.

But they'll say it's Obama's (and by their "logic" the left's) fault that there are no jobs.

If people see through that, story number two is that it's just hard-ball politics.

But really, it's enslavement.

3. The ultimate goal of the 1% is financial enslavement of the 99%
They want the 99% saddled with enormous bills and debt. they want people to become debt slaves.

2. Again...anyone who says America is the greatest country on earth is sorely mistaken
Edited on Tue Nov-01-11 03:58 PM by Cali_Democrat
I hear this all the time from talking heads on TV, politicians in Congress as well as the President.

America is NOT the greatest country on earth. How can a great country be completely and totally paralyzed to the point where NOTHING gets done even though there is a severe jobless crisis? The only time something gets done is when it benefits the wealthy.

This is madness and the OP is further proof that America has become nothing more than a joke.

A powerful military has nothing to do with greatness. Killing people using our military does not make us great, it makes us cowardly killers that enjoy waging war.
