OBAMA Needs to SAY!!!!!!!!!..... |
|
......to foreign country's if you do not provide the same level of security screening as is provided here in the USA we will suspend all inbound flights to the USA....WE think security is a joke here many of my work associates who travel abroad say airport screening is pretty weak in comparison to ours.
Also ban travel for country's that are a breeding ground for terrorist.....start with Somalia and Nigeria and yes if the UK is one them to...

1. I'm not exactly sure we should start killing tourism because of potential terrorists. |
|
Whenever we do things that allow terrorists to disrupt our normal way of life, we let them win.

2. Easy to blame other countries for their laxity when it is apparent |
|
that we were as well (this guy was not on the no-fly list despite being flagged). By your logic, other countries should suspend our inbound flights, given that we are arguably a "breeding ground for terrorists..." I really detest these kneejerk type responses...

All the more reason for countries to work together to address these deficiencies. Isolationism is NOT the answer.

4. Sounds pretty sensible to me |
|
Although how many countries might that exclude from travel? Probably most of the ME I imagine, which may or may not be practical. However, of course, it's a better idea than whipping up more hysteria and bombing more and more countries every time some unaffiliated yahoo tries to commit an act of terrorism against us.

9. I've flown in and out of Amsterdan and Europe several times. Their security dwarfs ours |
|
The only why this guy would have been detected is with a strip search or with bomb sniffing dogs or the bomb sniffing dectector that is in place in some, but not all airports.
that is the scary thing. This type of explosive will get through unless everyone is stip searched, etc.
The only way to stop the threat is to completely shut down commercial aviation and that is not doable.

18. +1! Also been there and done that. |

Yes, European airport security is pretty darn good, and has been for years. There's a lot of blame to go around.
Bombing ... or having surrogates bomb ... targets in Yemen, as has been happening recently and is, by at least some accounts, the reason given for this attempt to get our attention, certainly doesn't help to ratchet tensions down.

|

We've had plenty of "terrorist" come out of here. Unabomber, Eric Rudolph, McVeigh, are we one of those "country's" that shouldn't have people travel?

to any other country but this one. They weren't flying to other countries and terrorizing anyone. Apples and oranges.

12. Cancun security let us take a knife on a returning trip to Oakland, post 9-11. |
|
Girlfriend forgot to remove giant Swiss Army knife from purse, the took it at the gate.
Once seated, before departure, someone came down the aisle looking for her to return her knife.
Odd especially because the outgoing security was the most extensive I've ever experienced.
Mexico is safe from us.

14. We Already Do That.... duh... |
|
The TSA has a regular program of assessment of foreign airport procedures, and we don't allow planes from non-compliant ones to fly to the US.
As far as banning "country's that are a breeding ground for terrorist", I gather you didn't catch the news of US citizens being arrested in Pakistan in connection with terrorism.
The suspect in the recent incident had a visa to visit the US.

|
Edited on Mon Dec-28-09 05:22 PM by denem
we stop all the planes!
btw. The NEW TSA screening procedures were up and running at the departure gates for USA bound flights from Dec 27, in Sydney Airport, Australia.
Passengers headed elsewhere in the world were lucky enough to not have their crotch grabbed.

|
happen HERE! No terrorist attacks! (How they know this is beyond me cause MY crystal ball is in the shop.) Looking for Al Qaeda and the taliban was a waste of time and all for naught. Bin Laden is DEAD! I know beause the poster SAID so! Now, that should relieve you of ANY worry or future concern. As you were.
