Following up on MagickMuffin's question about a donation forum... |
|
Hi Guys :)
I've asked about this before but I know you guys were extra hammered with emails for a while, so I don't know if the request was seen.
I've had many DUers write me, asking about posting their need at Wishadoo and then having a thread here at DU to bring attention to their need.
I would think it may be good for us to figure out something, as this may take the onus off of you guys for such requests.
If the actual information is posted at Wishadoo, and there is merely a post here at DU making others aware of it, would that be easier for you and eliminate the need to get permission for such posts?
Additionally, if you're not interested in creating such a forum here at DU as MagickMuffin suggested, I could create a section in the Wishlist devoted entirely to DUers, so people could check in quickly to see fundraising and need-related postings by other DUers (they could cross-reference into other applicable Wishlist categories so others can find them as well, of course).
I feel bad not having a protocol set up when DUers ask me to help them set up a fundraiser, and then feel bad bothering you each time to ask if it's okay to post.
BTW, you kindly granted me permission to post my response to Glenn Beck trashing Wishadoo on his radio show two weeks ago. The partnership situation at Wishadoo is settled, so I hope to move forward with that response -- the "I Choose Campaign" -- next week.
If you think we can set up a streamlined system for DUers in need at Wishadoo, let me know, please.
Thanks for everything, and continued best wishes to you all.

1. I don't think we're doing the donation forum |
|
So you can feel free to organize a system however you want at Wishadoo. To make it easier, I'm going to grant you blanket permission to use the following disclaimer at any time, so you don't have to contact us for permission every time you want to start a thread about fundraising at Wishadoo.
Required disclaimer: The administrators of Democratic Underground have given permission for one discussion thread on this topic. The administrators of Democratic Underground make no claims regarding the legitimacy or illegitimacy of this fundraising effort.
A word of advice though: use this power with discretion. If we start getting complaints that there are too many fundraising threads, we will have to re-evaluate the situation.

2. Understood! I will work with other DUers to come up with a system... |

so that it is informative and helpful, and not "spammy" with there being too many threads. Maybe a once per week Wishadoo thread or something where the DU Wishlist posts are highlighted.
Thanks so much, Skinner. Much appreciated!
:hi:
On edit: If it makes it easier on you guys, when people write about doing a fundraiser -- or anything else they're trying to get help with -- and you want to funnel them to me and Wishadoo to set it up there instead, if they're open to that, feel free.
