So Obama cancelled a March bombing of Osama's building, |
|
to ensure that we got the body. But then immediately buries him at sea.
I don't get that. Why risk lives to get the body to only get rid of it immediately. It's not like bombing the building would have incinerated his corpse. We still could have gotten DNA confirmation from a bombing.
Personally, if I was being told that we knew where he was with 100% certainty (I assume this was the case if we sent a team in), I would have just told them to bomb the crap out of it, and send a team in for the bodies.
Oh well, the job is done and I haven't heard any reports of any of our men dying in the operation, so I can't complain about the results. It's about damn time we got him,

3. Because you can get video and pictures of the body |
|
if you shoot him. A bombing completely destroys the body

10. Well, what would YOU have done with the body? |
|
Seems like dumping it at sea was a good idea. Not gonna bring it back to the US and put it on display, and if it got buried, SOMEONE would try and dig it up.
What would YOU have done?

"Why risk lives to get the body to only get rid of it immediately"
He was buried in accordance with his (and millions of others) religious tradition. We don't usually drag corpses through the streets here.
"It's not like bombing the building would have incinerated his corpse. We still could have gotten DNA confirmation from a bombing"
A "hands on" raid makes positive ID of the body quick and easy. I don't think the leaders of Pakistan could allow a team of U.S. military forensics experts to crawl over the bombed out site for days trying to find parts.
