What happened under who's presidency in Fauxworld?
Let's see, under Bush:

- Bin Laden was killed by Dimson himself
- The Berlin Wall fell
- The slaves were freed
- Hitler killed himself out of pure fear of Bush's codpiece of doom
- Bush personally founded America, that's why they said to speak ill of him was to speak ill of America

Under Clinton and/or Obama:

- The economy collapsed
- 9/11 happened
- Eve ate the forbidden fruit

What else?

2. The economic boom of the Clinton years was actually the work of Reagan.

I always love that one. I had a discussion with a Republican once who gave me that one, and when pressed, explained that you have to wait 8 years to see the results of economic policies. That explained, for him, why things always seem to go to shit economically when there's a Republican in office. It's always the fault of the previous administration-- unless it's a Republican administration following a Republican administration, as with Bush senior. Then you have to to wait 12 years for the policies to have an effect, so the economic situation under Bush senior was the fault of Carter.

I kid you not-- that was his position.

4. I like that one, too.
Whenever I heard that piece of twisted logic, I also like to mention that every Republican voted against Clinton's 1993 budget - the one that raised income taxes and created 22.5MM new jobs.....every Republican voted for the Bush taxcut the one that didn't create any meaningful increase in jobs.

You know what you never see in Republican discussions about the economy over the past 40 years? Any facts/graphs to back up their opinions.

6. Another exception to that rule-- if the economic times are bad under a Democratic president,
then the economic climate is the fault of the current president.

If the economy was booming right now, it would be the work of GW Bush. But when the economy really tanked at the tail end of the Bush years, not only was it not the fault of GW Bush-- it was the fault of Obama, who hadn't even been inaugurated yet. The markets were just so pessimistic because of his election. :P

7. Good enough point but one small thing I must mention
Edited on Wed May-04-11 10:32 AM by CBGLuthier
When contemplating the possessive of who vs. the contraction of who is, please try saying who is. If that sounds silly then use the word whose. Otherwise it puts a hurt on my eyes.

8. Do you think Bush would have given Bill Clinton any credit if Bush killed bin Laden?
