First off, I am glad they killed him. No doubt about it he needed to go and a trial, etc would have resulted in a lot of hassle and the same outcome.

But if out troops died in battle, or they killed a american citizen and wanted to release the photo, I think we would protest that.

I just think it is a little cruel and brutal to show his picture. Not civilized at all. And adds nothing to the outcome.

Everyone knows he is dead. Even the terrorists are not claiming he is not.

Not sure we should do this.

2. I have seen picture of our dead soldiers killed
in battle. During Vietnam you would see pictures on the news. I saw a couple news pictures during Katrina of drowned citizens floating in the water.

What I think is uncivilized is starting wars in two countries to find a bad man, bombing the hell out of them for years, countless deaths of our soldiers and their civilians and we fucking find him in another country that is we have been "working" with.

Not civilized at all.

4. The analogy doesn't work re our troops. But if an American citizen intentionally and maliciously
slaughtered 3,000 citizens of another country, admitted to doing so, and then was killed by the military of that country, then I would not be pissed if they released the photo.

5. What? After the celebrations of having killed the sucker
we are having compassionate thoughts about not releasing this photo as it might upset some folks, mostly his fellow terrorists? Oh hell.

9. Much better analogy
I believe some American citizens got to see Tim McVeigh's execution, not just the President and his advisers.

12. I'm sure we saw a picture of a dead Sadam Hussein..
I have no say one way or another about releasing any bin Laden photos...but you don't
have to look at it/them if you don't want to.

13. Politically (domestically), showing the pictures is a smart move. Diplomatically
it's a goddamn disaster. Time to think of salving the wounds we've made.

14. So you worry about stepping on international toes about the photos, but...
it doesn't occur to you that the US invading a foreign country, stepping all over their sovereignty and dispensing justice in the form of an execution is a problem?

How would Americans feel if the Chinese invaded America to kill a dissident or to kill a mass-murderer on US soil or even to kill a US official they felt was responsible for Chinese deaths?

What if Korea sent a kill team in to Russia to take out the people that shot down KAL Flight 007?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Air_Lines_Flight_007

Would these things be justified based on THEIR feeling that it was deserved?

15. or if Cuba invaded Florida to get terrorists Orlando Bosch and that Posada guy
they killed Cuban civilians in an airliner, so the case would be pretty parallel.
