Today Marks the 41st Anniversary of the Kent State Murders.
Lets not forget the people who died that day:

Allison Krause age 19
Jeffery Miller age 20
Sandy Scheuer age 20
Bill Schroeder age 20

Never forget the people who were killed just as their lives were beginning.

Last year on the 40th anniversary there was a call for people to come together and share their truth about the events of that weekend. The following is a sample of those tapes:

and there are more here:

Here is a blog snip from Laural Krause who is Allison's sister and their cousin who spoke today:

My name is Jennifer Schwartz Wright and I am Allison Krause’s cousin and also among the first generation of our family who never met Allison.

What can I tell you about my beloved cousin? I was less than a year old when she was shot dead on May 4, 1970. Had she not been killed, I would most certainly have known her.

I have spent my life trying to right this wrong in my own way, trying to get closer to her, to know her, endeavoring to honor her and make Allison proud. So I thank you for inviting me here today to tell you some of what I have learned about Allison from books and published articles, from her friends, from our family and from my efforts at the Kent State Truth Tribunal.

Allison Beth Krause was the cherished first of two daughters born to Arthur and Doris Krause, living in Cleveland Heights. Although roughly 10 years older than Allison, my father Marvin Schwartz remembers many summers playing with the Krause girls. My Dad talks about Allison as a sweet, fun, clever, pretty and vivacious girl. Many of Allison’s friends in Cleveland still remember her from those days back in grade school... more at blog.

1. I remember how the students really took to the streets after that
and how very angry I was. And we never have had any "closure" on this except perhaps that Nixon had to resign (but for other crimes).

5. I was 14
I couldn't believe they would ever shoot unarmed protesters just because they disagreed with the government's actions. I was wrong and I woke up at 14. Ten days later the murders at Jackson State took place. I will never forget.

3. I was a Senior in high school then. Allison Krause had attended
a high school in the suburbs of Pgh. and they were rivals of my high school. I will never forgot this date and can remember watching the news on TV. When it was mentioned that Allison was a local girl, it was all the more gut wrenching.

RIP to all the victims of this senseless action.

4. A decisive battle in the Vietnam War, IMHO
The country, particularly the Greatest Generation changed their view watching the news that evening.

As a nation we recognized that the will to fight in Vietnam had turned us into something we didn't want to be.

8. At the time, KSU was a customer of mine. I was there the day after this carnage. You wouldn't
believe the destruction - I was 24 and had never seen anything like it. It resembled a war zone. I was in shock and couldn't believe the university was still operating that day. I actually called, expecting my appointment to be cancelled. But no...

Now, 41 years later, my great niece is starting at KSU this fall. Makes me shiver.
