Target Corp was the top contributor to what EVIL WOMAN of the Right?
Edited on Wed May-04-11 07:24 PM by Snoutport
Our dear Michele Bachmann. I knew that Target has some issues with gay peeps but I had no idea they were such big Bachmann supporters. I will not be shopping there again. (and I am going to write a letter to Target about why I'm no longer shopping with them)

(and to any NICE witch who reads this...I hope you're not too offended by my calling her a witch)

3. Using the word "witch"
to refer to a woman is sexist and misogynistic, IMO. Even if that woman is a political adversary. It is a code word for b*tch.

8. I just thought it went best with EVIL...
I really just meant it in the evil wicked witch of the west (or midwest in this case)...the kind who is mean to people, monkeys and dogs.

nothing else seemed to work.

18. No.
Although I would not regard that string of insults as sexist or misogynistic, I do not think it is "OK." It is childish and counterproductive to scatologically objectify one's political adversaries in a crude, sophomoric manner. Referring to one's political opponents as a crude term for feces fails to win any argument and in fact makes it appear as if the one using such an insult has lost the argument and has been reduced to childish name-calling.

My Mother died 2 years ago. She's the last person who I allowed to lecture me. Get off your high horse think about how insulting your fake piety is to me.

Buh bye, I've taken the $100 big red X Alex, with joy.

On edit, I thought of a better word, bullshit. OH and Merry Christmas, and I don't mean Happy Holidays. Take that and enjoy it.

5. Target is no better than the company I work for
which is Wal-mart.. in fact, Target may be worse than Wally World. I had a co-worker who used to work for Target and she says Wal-mart treats their employees much better than Target.

Contributing to Bachmann? Doesn't surprise me; most big corporations contribute heavily to Repuke candidates.. which is why we should put a limit to how much corporations can give candidates and PACs.

6. When ever I hear of the witch topic.
I think of the guy saying the Lord's prayer while they tried to crush him by piling up stones on him, to get him to say he was in league with what he was not. Torture was used many times to get people to try and say they were part of something they felt was bad to say.

So I think many label others wrongly, and many label themselves wrongly, so think it it best to try and look at the verbs not the nouns.

And most of that stuff comes from fear used to explain some other things.

14. It wasn't the Lord's Prayer; Miles Corey said only "more weight" while being pressed
He was being pressed to denounce his wife, Martha Corey, as a witch. He never did.

7. Not from Target Corp. From people who work at Target.
Not that surprising since Target is headquartered in MN.

Senator Klobuchar got $63,550 from Target employees.

20. corporations can't give directly to federal candidates
they can, due to the citizen's united decision, spend their own money independently of a candidate or candidate's committee. They can also form a PAC that individuals contribute to. But, they can't give directly.

http://www.fec.gov/pages/brochures/citizens.shtml

Also, if you click through to Bachmann's donors, it will show that $18,950 of the $19,950 was from individuals.

http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.php?cycle=2010&cid=N00027493&type=I

Target has a PAC, which gave $1000 to Bachmann. That may be reason enough to boycott them, I guess, but they gave the same amount to every MN incumbent, so I'm not holding it against them.

15. Companies are going to contribute to the elected people from their home state

And if they don't they are going to get shaken down for it. If I were elected statewide or a high profile member of the house, you better believe every major company is going to be giving to my campaign and PAC or they are going to find themselves not getting anything they want.

22. Target does give a lot back to the communities in which they have stores. They
also build super stores in low-income areas where people may not have had access to fresh food, etc. I like Target and the prices are pretty good. You can get 5% off all purchases there now if you use a Target card. That always saves us money on basics.

They also have a line of organic food that is not full of chemicals and preservatives. I am disappointed that they donate so much to Bachmann, but overall I like the store.

I mean Wal-marts off the list. Kmarts are just kinda trashy as stores. Targets are so nice and clean.

Oh well, I can manage this one too.
