After a few days to think about it, here is what I think. There was |

a time, back in 2001-2002, when I wanted to see Bin Laden's corpse ground up, made into urinal cakes and distributed throughout the country.
When I watched the President on Sunday night I saw a man who did not gloat when most would have. He did what he said he would do, with the help of some really tough dudes and a lot of expensive equipment. He took no pleasure in ordering people killed and it showed. I agree with his decision not to release photos of the corpse and the burial at sea. This is the smartest President of my lifetime and I am almost 64 years old. We are lucky to have him, although his hope of changing the way things are done in Washington ran into a wall of Republican intransigence and barely veiled racism. Let's help him get Congress back in 2012 and let him keep some of the promises he will take pleasure in keeping.
Bin Laden sat out a long firefight and let a woman try to defend him. I like to think I wouldn't have done that-would you? He died a fucking coward and sleeps with the fishes, that is good enough for me.

2. Posting all the pictures in the world wouldn't do any good |

and would only fuel conspiracy theories for years to come while showing disrespect to the dead to Muslims around the world. Instead, they shrouded the body according to Islamic law, had prayers in Arabic read over it, and buried it at sea. It was better than that piece of garbage had any right to expect, but fitting for any dead human being.
What they did was exactly right. There was no gloating, no sappy biographies of the SEALs who did the raid, and most of the Monday morning quarterbacking was from the conspiracy obsessed fringes on both left and right.
It's just not going to play very well to people who expect government by admen and other flacks.
I guess the Reuters pictures are going to have to satisfy their blood lust.
