Women who left 5 year old alone while working gets help
Mom gets young son back after leaving him alone at motel

Petina Minor gets 5-year-old son back after leaving him alone.

ROSWELL, GA - "It definitely has had a happy ending to it, you know; I got my son back very quickly," said Petina Minor.

That's the 30-year-old mother's reaction to winning back custody of her 5-year-old son after leaving him alone in a motel while she went to work.

Minor was too embarrassed to talk on camera Wednesday, but in a phone call she talked about how much she has learned about responsibility and the kindness of strangers.

It all began the night of April 21st, when she went to her overnight job and left her 5-year-old son alone.

He called 911.
-----------

But now she has him back and they have somewhere else to stay thanks to assistance from local organizations like Homestretch and The Drake House, who help homeless families with children.

1. I am glad she got the help she needed. Too many parents are stuck scrambling for childcare so they
can work. Thank you for the positive ending story.

3. This is the "end of welfare as you knew it"
This is what happens when public assistance is shredded and replaced with low wage jobs

5. Absolutely. thank you. Clinton cared so little about the women and children he hurt, that he
never even tried to track them to find out how many became homeless, how many died.

4. I guess I had a difference experience
I was raised in Germany for the first decade of my life. My Dad was in the Green Beret and married my Mom, an e. German. He was gone a lot (Iraq, Afghan, whereever) and she had to work and my sis and I were left home a lot. She is a year younger and I am sure that I stayed home we her when I was 5. I was given strict and simple instructions of what I could and couldn't do. No one thought of sending us to a foster home, that I know of.
