Osama bin Laden dead: Archbishop of Canterbury criticises White House
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/al-qaeda/8494852/Osama-bin-Laden-dead-Archbishop-of-Canterbury-criticises-White-House.html

Dr Rowan Williams warned that the shooting dead of the unarmed al Qaeda leader meant justice was not "seen to be done".

The differing accounts of the American special forces' operation which have emerged from the White House since Monday "have not helped", he said.

Answering a question from the Daily Telegraph, at a press conference in London, Dr Williams said: "The killing of an unarmed man is always going to leave a very uncomfortable feeling because it does not look as if justice is seen to be done."

A spokesman for Archbishop Vincent Nichols, the head of the Catholic church in England and Wales, said the church would not be commenting on the killing of the al-Qaeda leader.

1. The molestation of children is a crime, too
Clean your own damned house before condemning others.

4. He's Anglican, not Catholic.
Are there abuses in the Anglican church, also ? Just curious.

5. Every day!
I'm not a follower of any religion. All religions have those who abuse children, women, and even men. It's not confined to the Catholics alone, though they seem to get all the press. And, that's not to say most religious leaders are molestors, they are not. But, those who live in glass houses............

You duck and cover and misstep even more. Disgraceful.

9. Sorry.....
...instead of saying Catholic, I should have said all religions. When I read "arch-bishop" I thought of Catholicism. Since I follow no religion, I am not up on what they call their leaders. But, I stand by the staement that ALL religions have those who molest others. Religion is an organized attempt to control morals, for profit.

Okay, I fessed up. My bad. How's that?

10. So do all secular organizations
My public school had a teacher who molested girls for over 20 years (not me, but everyone knew it).

11. Child molesting has not been a big problem in the Anglican church recently...
Rowan Williams is actually a nice bloke, though (as here) I sometimes find him too idealistic and impractical.

Which is not something I say of many people - they're more likely to say it about me!

Perhaps religious leaders *should* be the more idealistic and impractical and pacifist people in the community - usually instead I find them harsher and more intolerant.

But in this case, I'm the harsher and more intolerant one. My bleeding heart finds its limits with Bin Laden, I'm afraid. Good riddance to bad rubbish there.

3. the difference in lying is, with changing story it has been to correct someone who spoke out without
the info

as opposed to the catholic church that continues a lie regardless of evidence presented.

12. I happen to agree with the Archbishop on this one,
no matter what the vengeful types say.

Killing Bin Laden didn't bring back a single victim. It would have been much better to have him captured and put on trial like Adolf Eichmann, so that we could find the whole truth.

(And I strongly suspect that the whole truth is something that various governments would rather not have known.)
