|
Edited on Thu May-05-11 08:49 AM by proud patriot
she was aking him about the screwed up tax code .Used Warren Buffett's example of his paying less of a % in taxes than his secretary. Orrin (non)Answer sounded like he said well if you want to increase revenue in taxes "the money is with the MIDDLE CLASS"
I swear I heard that come out of his mouth just now . :wow:

4. Limpballs said that a long time ago. |
|
There are too few rich people. The numbers are with the middle class. They don't talk about numbers of dollars, they talk about numbers of people. It's disengenuous and stupid. But that's been their meme for years.

5. Yeah, they've been pushing this line for the last few weeks |
|
The claim is that there aren't enough rich people to cover the deficit -- that even if you taxed every one of them at 100% it would still fall short, so that leaves only the middle class.
I haven't seen a detailed analysis of this claim, but it strikes me that it deliberately leaves out corporations, as well as the possibility of modest tax increases on those in, say, the $250,000-$500,000 range.
But the GOP is starting to set us up to believe that taxing the middle class in general is the only way out of our financial problems. And we need to get on top of that and push back really hard before it becomes conventional wisdom.

8. the debt took decades to achieve this level ... |
|
and, with Clinton's 1990s budget, which every republican said would cause financial ruin as far as the eye could see so that's why they didn't vote for it, we actually were going to start paying down the debt and show a surplus.
BTW, that surplus was where George W. Bush based his tax cuts on, before he based them on the "recession".

12. We really need to turn that around. |

There aren't enough middle class dollars to cover the deficit. That is the plain and simple truth.

6. Did he use his Shirley TEMPLE pout when he said it? No, he saves that for |
|
complaints about how mean Dems are. When wingnut Miguel ESTRADA was being opposed by Dems for being a WINGNUT (not a Hispanic), Orrin was doing the pout saying how hypocritical Dems were to oppose a Hispanic since Dems claim to champion minorities.
Uh, it is racism to favor or oppose somebody BASED ON RACE. Since ESTRADA claimed to be a true wingnut as opposed to a wingnut puppet, all we had to do was to take him at his word and oppose him FOR BEING A WINGNUT, duh.
Plus, Orrin pronounced it "mee-gwell" rather than "mee-ghel." But it's so cute when Shirley says it.

9. He and Nora were talking about 52% of people not paying any |
|
taxes except payroll taxes and some of them getting offsets that, according to Hatch means they don't pay payroll taxes either. Hatch is talking about raising revenue from people below the poverty level!
