Anyone watching the Daily Show?
Their doing a story on a Methodist church in Virgina allowing Muslims to use a room for prayers, I'll admit I'm not the biggest fan of organized religion, but if all religions could cooperate like this things would be a lot better.

6. I was wondering why they'd need a room, too. They could use any of their houses.
But then I saw your insult to their beliefs....so you lost me there.

and it does not tell a very pleasant story of who you are. :eyes:

2. It's nice of the church to do that.
I'm not sure how the bible would view it, but I think it's very generous.

5. I think there is a place for church
in the 21st century... as a community support sysytem and meeting place... if people would just understand history and mythology and take the time to know where the story comes from... tall order, I know!

11. surely
room for discussion... many non-profits are tax-exempt... churches as businesses (and make no mistake, they are BIG Business!) need to pay taxes

13. I think it would depend on the individual church.

Mega-churches are big business for sure, smaller churches I'm not so sure about. I do think we should tax the organizations, if not the individual churches. Believe me, I'm for taxing the Southern Baptist Convention to death, I have major issues with them. Also, the Catholic diocese should probably be taxed, if not the individual parishes which can be small. Here is one of the reasons we should tax the SBC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethics_%26_Religious_Liberty_Commission

10. It's always best when the folks who are quickest to start wars because they just
don't think the 'others' are human treat each other as human beings, even though I think they are all delusional fuckers.

12. I have serious doubts about the role of religion in recent wars.
Granted it is a tool used to manipulate people into war, but the root causes go far beyond religion.
