Pakistan Dares India (Or Anyone Other Than US) to Breach Border
Source: The Nation (Pakistan)

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan, in clear allusion to India, said on Thursday any country that tried to raid its territory in the way US forces did to kill Osama bin Laden would face consequences from its military.

Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir dismissed any suggestion the Pakistani military or its main spy agency had been involved with al-Qaeda and issued a blunt warning against any further intrusions.

Bashir did not directly respond to comments from the White House that US President Barack Obama reserved the right to take action again in Pakistan, but said there were “a number of questions” about how the covert raid took place.

“This matter of sovereignty and violation of sovereignty, and the modalities for combating terrorism raises certain legal and moral issues which fall properly in the domain of the United Nations,” he told the government’s first news conference since US forces killed Osama bin Laden. About Indian statements following the killing of Osama bin Laden, Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir said: “I only see them (statements) as symptomatic of trends and tendencies within Indian establishment and their armed forces to subvert the agenda of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

1. Pakistan Warns US: No More Raids, reaction to killing of Al Qaeda founder Osama Bin Laden
Source: Day Breaking News

In its first official reaction to the killing last Sunday of Al Qaeda founder Osama Bin Laden by US commandos deep inside Pakistani territory, the Pakistani military Thursday threatened to put more strain on the country’s already fragile relations with the United States if similar American incursions are repeated.

The Associated Press yesterday said the warning came even as the Pakistani Army acknowledged what it termed its own shortcomings, referring to widely held suspicions that Pakistani authorities had sheltered Bin Laden for years, long before his assassination by US Navy SEALs earlier this week.

The statement, issued by Army headquarters but not attributed to any single military official, said a review is being made regarding the extent of the continued American military presence in Pakistan. No additional details were given.

Analysts said the brief Pakistani Army communique was also meant to assure the Pakistani people following loudly voiced popular dismay over the army’s inability to prevent the US assault which constituted a clear breach in the country’s sovereignty .

‘Up to Pak to decide whether they want U.S. troops (to stay) or not’
Source: The Hindu

Amid anger in Pakistan over a U.S. covert operation raid that led to Osama bin Laden’s death, the Pentagon has said that it was up to Islamabad to decide whether they want American troops to remain in the country or not.

The comments came a day after the Pakistani army decided “to reduce the strength of U.S. military personnel in Pakistan to the minimum essential“.

“The Chairman has repeatedly noted that the small number of U.S. military trainers in Pakistan are there at the invitation of the Pakistani government, and therefore subject to that government’s prerogatives,” said a spokesman of Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

“He has seen press reporting that those prerogatives might be changing, but until such time as he has been officially informed of such by Gen (Ashfaq Pervez) Kayani, the Chairman will withhold comment,” the statement said, adding Mullen continues to believe in the importance of U.S. military partnership with Pakistan.

2. What does anyone expect them to say? "Yes, please invade us. Violate our sovereignty."
Naturally, they are going to respond like this. Kabuki theater.
