There's always a ready excuse for lawbreaking. Penny ante criminals use penny ante excuses like "My family was hungry" or "I needed a drug fix." The real pros use excuses like "Freedom isn't free" and "Homeland security" or something else. The major difference between the lies is that even if people believe the penny ante excuses, they don't usually sympathsize. The real pro excuses are so good, that even when people know they're just so much bullshit they defend them to their own detriment.
